The BlackBerry Storm was supposed to be the iPhone slayer from RIM. While it garned some moderate success from a niche group of users, it failed to take on the masses like its fruity sibling. Like its predecessor, the Storm 2 was also welcomed into rather mediocre fan fare. Looking at the past two luke warm touchscreen-only devices, can RIM finally take the cake with the Storm 3? Perhaps a list of specs should be in order, no? Going by claims originating from Salomodrin.net, the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 3 looks like a beast on paper…(Hop in!)
- 1GHz processor
- 8GB of storage
- 512MB-1GB RAM
- OS of its own (read: NOT 6.0)
- Widgets and customization abound
- Display resolution unknown. New type of input technology. Sure-press on board
- LTE
For what it’s worth, the Storm 3 is currently being tested by a very small number of testers. Further hiding the true identity of the device is the Storm 2 shell that the Storm 3 hardware is crammed into. Very Apple-esque. If RIM can finally put out some decent software, the Storm 3 has the potential to be a potent contendor in the consumer smartphone market. Otherwise it’ll be business as usual. Who’s got their fingers crossed?
