Upcoming iPod Shuffle revealed. Now features 1.2″ x 1.2″ display (and no buttons)?

Grains of salt and salt shakers folks. Hold ‘em high and proud as we venture into the abyss…

Supposedly this is the upcoming iPod Shuffle, that if history repeats itself as it has in the past, should drop to the masses sometime around the September time frame. The leak comes from tw.apple.pro (Google Translated) and is void of any other detail, save for the image above.

The idea of a minuscule 1″ touchscreen seems like one hot mess — and I mean that in a bad way. Then again, a button or two adorning the sides could be hidden out of view. Another answer could be that Apple is removing buttons altogether and making the shuffle a true random piece of art, with the display now adding some extra flare to your totally random loving lifestyle. The final theory is that it’s merely the display for a new, upcoming Nano. Though the latter would signal a downsizing of the Nano’s display. And I’m not too sure Apple (or anyone with common sense floating around in their heads) would make such a move. Do you?
