Say that five times fast…

Do you spend countless hours signed in to Facebook just to make use of Facebook Chat, or do you punish yourself for the sole reason of tending to your neverending, completely fake crops? If you fall into the latter category, I can’t help you. However, if you fancy Facebook more for the actual communication part, a nifty little app dubbed “Chit Chat” is right up your alley. The genius of Chic Chat is that it takes Facebook Chat out of the browser and allows you to use it via a lightweight desktop app, without the need of actually being signed in within the browser. To some, the concept doesn’t make sense — if you spend so much time on Facebook Chat, why close the browser? If you find yourself asking this question too, I can only offer a recommendation to try Chit Chat.

Chit Chat isn’t for everyone. But social butterflies and those who just like to yak it up on Facebook Chat may just find relief in this nifty little app afterall…

When said that Chit Chat is lightweight, I mean it. It’s not much more than your typical IM app that was all the rage back in 2000. But for many, that simplicity is exactly what they’re looking for. To them, no one uses, AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, etc., etc. Facebook is where everyone is at. So why use anything else?

To that degree, Chit Chat just works. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve used Chit Chat as a Facebook replacement as much as possible. If I’m not cappin’ foes on Mafia Wars, I log out of Facebook and rely on Chit Chat for my social connections. Thus far, I haven’t had the displeasure of experiencing a single bug, glitch, connection drop out, lost chat, etc. It’s been smooth sailing.

If you really wanted to stretch the features list of Chit Chat, you could possibly even make the “enhanced security” claim. If you use a shared computer and happen to stay logged in to Chit Chat, the worst that will happen are some obscene chat messages sent to friends. Potentially damaging but not lethal nonetheless. If it were your Facebook page you left signed in, well, you can see the difference. But again, that’s a big stretch.

For most, Chit Chat is the perfect Facebook Chat Program without all the added fluff that has polluted the social web as of late. Why not give it a shot?
