Parallel DB25 > serial DE9 > serial Mini DIN-8 > USB converter > Flash drive: Awesome!

  • August 11, 2010 10:47 am

I don’t care who you are. This mad concoction of “adapters through the decades” is awesome. Whether or not it’s real of a Photoshop job remains to be seen. For the sake of all things holy however, I surely hope it’s real.

Think you can top that?

New official Twitter retweet badge and counter!

  • August 10, 2010 10:56 pm

Oh do we love new, shiny things. Inside, you’ll see a new Twitter retweet badge and counter. Actually, it is the new *official* retweet badge straight from Twitter. Long time coming it is. But at least it’s finally here. Being the eager nerd that I am, I’ve already gone ahead and included it in the social area above each post even though the backend on Twitter’s side isn’t yet activated. Supposedly said badge will be fully active by the latter half of this week. For now it’s more for looks and showing off. But soon it will fulfill its purpose.

Being in the aftermarket retweet badge business just took a nose dive from great to suck. Tweetmeme/Topsy — it was nice knowin’ ya…

Duck Hunt T-shirt: So close yet so far…

  • August 10, 2010 7:49 pm

It may showcase a simpler time. A time in which we measure graphics chips by MHz and graphics by bits. But that doesn’t matter. This Duck Hunt t-shirt is bad ass. It was up for vote on Threadless.com for printing. Unfortunately, it appears it didn’t win the vote. Pity. I’d buy it. Hell. I’d by ten.

Desktop Manager 6 released!

  • August 10, 2010 7:39 pm

Looking forward to picking up a fancy new Torch and poke and prod through OS 6? Perhaps you’re going to hold out and wait for OS 6 to come to your current device. Either way, you’ll need some desktop software to take advantage of all those new 1′s and 0′s. Luckily, RIM has released the latest DM 6 for those very users. I have to say, RIM’s attempts at UI design are getting much better. They’re not perfect, but I’d definitely be a little happier calling myself a DM 6 user over past iterations.

It’s available now on RIM’s website. Go and get it!

Dell Streak gets official date and price.

  • August 10, 2010 3:44 pm

Oh Dell Streak how you tease us with your massive 5″ screen and speedy innards. So far, you’ve remained a sort of forbidden fruit, flaunting your awesomeness but never quite telling us about your real self, or when we can hold you. But never more. Dell has come forward to dish the dirty details on your secrets — August 13th for $299 w/ 2-year AT&T contract or $499 w/o contract.

Yes. You are a pricey date, but a date none the less. I won’t complain as I whisk you away in my clammy mitts, anxious about the hours of fun time we’ll have together. Can’t wait ’til you get here. See you soon…

TweetDeck for Android video preview

  • August 10, 2010 3:12 pm

No…TweetDeck for Android hasn’t hit the airwaves yet. (Trust me, I’m as eager as you are!) But TweetDeck’s CEO Iain Dodsworth has taken it upon himself to tease us in the days before release, with a short video showing the login process. While it may not seem like much, it shows us multiple account (and service) support is here. It also gives us a good indication of what TweetDeck looks like as an app overall — stunning.

I don’t know about you, but I’m really digging the flatter tones that is quickly becoming the “it” thing in web design. As far as I can see from the video, TweetDeck will be a daily driver for me. In the meantime, check out the video inside showing the login process.

The water vaporizing gadget life saver : JMC Dryer Box

  • August 10, 2010 10:29 am

Water is the fear of any self-respecting gadget lover. H20 it seems isn’t so cuddly with the electrons that propel our digital lifestyles. There’s few protections for us digitized folk either. Sure — there’s a smattering of “Waterproof” cases and accessories. But nothing is definite. Leaks happen. So what do you do when your gadget of desire falls victim to the slimy fingers of the water goddess?

Again, any self respecting nerd will immediately reply with the following: (1) remove battery as quickly as possible (2) put in bag of rice, and (3) leave sit in a dry area for 24-36 hours. Pretty standard affair. There’s no guarantee your gadget’s life will be spared, but you’ll give yourself far greater odds that don’t end in massive amounts of weeping. However, there’s a second option. The JMC Dryer Box…
