Thrustmaster T500RS: The “Official” Steering Wheel of Gran Turismo 5. #thrustmaster

Now that we finally have Gran Turismo 5 in our hands to spend endless hours of each day enjoying, we’re left with the realization that we don’t actually have any new hardware to enjoy it with. Sure, we have some old Logitech steering wheels laying around, but they’re just…well…old. Surely one of the major peripheral manufactures has something new and exciting to make use of all of GT5′s eye candy and updated physics engine.

Alas, Thrustmaster has answered the calling. Dethroning the major champ of past years (Logitech) doesn’t come without some hefty requirements. So far, we’re to assume that the same magnetic technology used in the company’s Warthog controller will make another showing in the T500RS, as will a rather hefty pricetag to boot. Rumors are saying somewhere near $500 — and that’s without the not required though highly needed H-pattern shifter attachment.

Unfortunately, Thrustmaster is staying tight-lipped about anything else regarding the T500RS, offering up a mere “check us out at CES” statement. Fair enough. See you in early January, Thrustmaster…
