The 3D fad is still relatively strong — if not in consumers’ eyes, at least in the eyes of manufacturers. TV’s, cameras/video cameras, and even picture frames are joining the 3D club. In regards to the latter, there aren’t many options with which the normal consumer can easily take 3D photos just yet. That is, until Rollei releases their dual-5 Megapixel packing camera, the “Power Flex 3D”…
As previously mentioned, the Power Flex 3D makes use of two 5 megapixel sensors each with their own lens to capture images in full 3D. Switch over to 2D mode, however, and users can enjoy 720p video recording. Around back, the 2.8″ display completes the entire 3D package by displaying 3D images without the needed for the often required glasses.
If you’re looking for a tag teaming 3D solution, an accompanying (optional) 7″ picture frame with 800 x 400 resolution and 3 hours of continuous battery life displays your newly caught 3D photos for the world to see. What’s sort of neat is that this photo frame will also transform your older 2D photos into 3D as well. Though as is the case with standard quality movie content being upconverted to HD, the picture won’t be quite as good as “the real thing”.
For now, the price on the camera isn’t listed. The frame, however, will set you back ~$400. How much do you really need that 3D picture of little Jimmy’s soccer game?
