Nvidia currently has two dominating cards on the market — the GTX 570 and 580. Both are on the higher end of things with the 570 going for ~$350 and the 580 ~$500+. Whether it be because of budget constraints or simply not needing all the power in the world, you’re decision to choose lower-spec’d Nvidia equipment means you’ll have to pick the older, though perfectly capable GTX 460. But if you can hold off a few more weeks, Nvidia has a GTX 560 it would like to show you…
The word according to various BSN sources claims that the GTX 560 is Nvidia’s answer to AMD’s 68xx cards. The die is codenamed GF114 and supposedly beats the pants off of AMD’s current crop of mid-range offerings — handedly. On top of that, we’re hearing that the GTX 560 will easily 930-940MHz Core speeds on air. Of course, coming from Nvidia itself isn’t 100% truth. 3rd party, independent tests are the true test.
But we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. BSN’s sources are saying that the GTX 560 is on schedule, with Nvidia sailing through internal testing. Look for an early 2011 announcement/release.
