Galaxy Tab 8.9″,10.1″ Tablets And Touchwiz 4.0 Officially Announced.

iPad #2 has some competition nipping at its ankles. The freshly announced Samsung Galaxy Tab now has an 8.9″ and 10.1″ versions to compliment the first-gen 7″ sibling that was released late in 2010. But not only do the new Galaxy Tabs have bigger screens, they have more powerful hardware too all while slimming down even further. Speaking of power, the new Tabs feature dual-core processors running at 1GHz (Nvidia Tegra 2 — unconfirmed) as well as Touchwiz 4.0. Touchwiz 4.0 by the way is much less intrusive (or ugly) than it’s predecessor. In fact to our eyes, it looks not all that different from stock Honeycomb, save for some Samsung-added animations and subtle UI changes here and there, specifically the mail app. Either way, the new Galaxy Tabs should definitely give the Motorola XOOM a run for its money.

Availability is “this summer”. In the meantime, check out the pricing:

  • 16GB 8.9″: $469
  • 32GB 8.9″: $569
  • 16GB 10.1″: $499
  • 32GB 10.1″: $599

Hop on past the break for a video walk through of Touchwiz 4.0 compliments of Slashgear.
