HP TouchPad Coming To Carriers This June, Starting At $499.

  • March 16, 2011 12:00 am

Besides the BlackBery Playbook, the other big “newcomer” to the tablet arena that’s got a lot of peoples’ interest piqued is the HP TouchPad. This webOS-packin’ slab has thus far eluded specific pricing and even a vague release date. Thankfully, some employee at an unnamed company risked his job to give us some usable TouchPad information. According to the sheet above, we can expect to see the 10″ TouchPad tablet launching in June for $499, and rise up to $599 for the higher-end model. As for the 7″ TouchPad, we’ll have to wait until September to wrap our hands around it’s sleek, slimmer physique. One of the last unknowns we’d like to check off our list pertains to cellular coverage. But none of that was mentioned in this latest info leak, so it’s back to crawling the internet for information. Stay tuned…

In wake of the horrible events occurring in Japan over the past week, Apple has decided to delay the launch of their 2nd generation iPad so that cities, families, and individuals can get their lives back on track. Per Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris:

“We are delaying the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan while the coutnry and our teams focus on recovering from the recent disaster”

At this time, Apple has not made any mention of a new release date.

News of iPad 2 launch delays may be more the norm than originally planned. Earlier today, it was reported that the ship time for new iPad 2 devices has been pushed back to 5 weeks.

[Update] Confirmed: HTC Thunderbolt Coming March 17th For $249

  • March 15, 2011 8:54 am

Early rumors of both a March 17th and March 21st release date for HTC’s LTE equipped Thunderbolt can be put to rest. Verizon has finally given us a release date for this highly sought after device — March 17th. The Thunderbolt is noted as being the first publicly available LTE-capable smartphone on Verizon’s network. With promises of 5-12Mbps download and 2-5Mbps upload speeds, it’s certainly a force to reckon with. Other goodies include a 4.3″ WVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor (sorry folks, no dual-core), 8-megapixel rear/1.3-megapixel front facing camers, 8GB of internal storage + 32GB microSD card included. The icing on the cake is that the new 4G/LTE plans cost the same $29.99 as Verizon’s current 3G-only data plans. WiFi hotspot access is free until May 15th. After said date, the price raises to $20/month for 2GB of data (kinda pointless if you ask us).

Somebody wants a Thunderbolt…

Update

The HTC Thunderbolt will only be $249 until March 20th. On that date, the price will rise to $299. If you want to save $50 you may want to consider being an early adopter.

EVGA Announces Dual-GPU GeFore GTX 460 Video Card.

  • March 15, 2011 7:20 am

If a single GTX 580 has power that weakens your knees but a price tag that makes you weep, picking up two GTX 460s (or 570s) is the next best choice. In SLI configuration, two of these cards meet or exceed the top-end giant in many instances, proving to be the perfect balance of price and performance. But some people don’t want or don’t have the room for dual card setups. That’s where dual-GPU cards come into play. By cramming two GPU dies on a single PCB, end users re-gain lost space inside of their case, more flexibility for a second dual-gpu card (bringing quad-SLI), lower heat output, and lower power consumption.

With that said, EVGA has officially taken the wraps off of their GeForce GTX 460 2Win dual-gpu card. With two GPU each feature 672 CUDA cores, 700MHz GPU clock, 1,400MHz Shader clock, and a 3,600MHz 256-bit (x2) 2048MB GDDR5 memory. In total, 230.4GB/sec will blow by your eyeballs ensuring you’re throughly wowed. Output support comes by way of 3x DVI ports and a single mini-HDMI port. Because there are essentially two cards at work here, Nvidia’s multi-monitor and 3D game features are supported. But before purchasing the 2Win from EVGA, be sure to measure your case — it’s a long one at 11.5″.

Currently, release date and pricing are not available. For more informaiton, be sure to check out EVGA’s 2Win product page for more information.

Sidekick Is Back! T-Mobile Unveils Samsung-Made Sidekick 4G.

  • March 15, 2011 6:40 am

Before Microsoft bought Sidekick company Danger, the platform had a lot of momentum and potential. Afterwards however, things dwindled down. Hardware became stale, software was rather plain compared to the latest competitors, and the devices themselves were still rather large. But even though Danger-based Sidekicks are no more, Samsung and T-Mobile have a treat for customers still wanting a Sidekick-shaped device — The Android powered Sidekick 4G.

Built by Samsung, this new age Sidekick packs in modern hardware such as 1GHz Hummingbird processor, HSPA+ (21Mbps) support, 3.5″ tilting display, 5-row qwerty keyboard, and Android 2.2. Also on board are numerous included apps such as Facebook and Twitter, DriveSmart (prevents texting while driving), and many other cloud apps aimed to re-invent the Sidekick brand.

Price is not known as of writing, though availability is slated for “late spring” in matte black or “pearl magenta”. Anyone getting Sidekick fever again?

Being an audiophile in the modern digital world while also considering mobility is almost impossible. At uncompressed bitrates, single CDs can easily approach 600-900MB in size. Audiophile equipment is getting smaller and becoming more efficient. And slowly but surely, device storage is growing. But what if you want the ultimate in portability while not sacrificing too much sound quality or battery life? Products such as the i.Fuzen made by Auzentech are right up your alley. Featuring a 3-in-1 design, this little case/extended battery/headphone amp is pretty awesome. Jump inside for the full rundown…
