BGR has managed to get his hands on a slew of photos showing off a special iPhone 4 running off of T-Mobile’s 1700MHz AWS 3G band as well as that special version of iOS we saw a few days back. It is said that this test device carries the internal designator of “N94″. For references sake, the AT&T iPhone 4 is N90 and the Verizon iPhone is N92.
With AT&T looking to swallow up the nation’s 4th largest carrier, it doesn’t make much logical sense to spend so much time testing and developing a separate piece of hardware for release. However, getting hardware to run on the special 1700MHz AWS band is important in the grander scheme of things even if AT&T fails to complete the T-Mobile purchase. At some point someone is going to get an AWS-compatible iPhone, be it T-Mobile or AT&T.
