Native FaceBook And Twitter Apps Coming To PlayBook

The PlayBook may be a month late and a few grand short, but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t potential to be had. The lack of apps is a crucial problem for RIM’s first-gen tablet at this point, but things are bound to change for the better, and soon.

We already know Android app support is coming. But now we can add two new native applications coming out of Waterloo — Twitter and Facebook. The revealing comes courtesy of RIM via the BlackBerry PlayBook Security Technical Overview, and details certain apps and services that will run in “personal mode” as opposed to work mode. Twitter and Facebook make the cut.

It’ll be a huge step for consumers to have the two aforementioned services in native form as going old school/”the real way” via the browser isn’t the best experience. As much as we love standard web apps across platforms, native apps just makes things all around more enjoyable. Stay tuned…
