Now that the great PSN Hack of 2011 is nearing it’s end, we can look back and chuckle — alright, maybe not. But we can at least look forward to happier times thanks to some digital schwag compliments of Sony as a “thank you” for sticking around.
First up: free games. In total, PlayStation owners will have 5 different titles to choose 2 free downloads from while PSP owners will have 4 titles to choose from. At this point, it isn’t clear whether or not owners of both devices will be able to receive 4 free titles — though we fully expect to learn rather quickly.
PS3 Titles: Dead Nation, inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD + Fury
PSP Titles: LittleBigPlanet (PSP), ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, and Killzone Liberation.
Besides the free games, Sony is also offering up a free months subscription to the PlayStation Plus package. Existing user will see an extra month credited to their bill while new users will receive said month free of charge. On top of that, Sony will be holding an “On Us” weekend in which they will offer a selection of movies to watch for free. Finally, PlayStation home users will receive 100 free virtual items.
Sounds like Sony’s taking the right steps. Now if only they’d offer some game downloads people have actually heard of (or care about)…
