In early May news broke that Twitter was dumping up to $50 million on popular 3rd party Twitter service and app suite, TweetDeck. The move was seen as a way of keeping quickly growing Ubermedia from picking up TweetDeck themselves and launching a potential Twitter competitor (as the company has mentioned a time or two before).
Today Twitter crossed the last t’s and dotted the final i’s to officially close the deal. TweetDeck is now officially owned by Twitter.
As we originally stated back in early May, we hope Twitter adopts and rolls out TweetDecks features within Twitter’s own apps and supported feature set are rather lacking. TweetDeck was a power users’ dream. Will Twitter continue TweetDeck’s legacy and cater to a growing hardcore user base?
