The back-and-forth volleying of allegations and lawsuits between Apple and Samsung took a new spin today. Rather unsurprisingly, a new FTC filing by Samsung asks the courts to ban the import of any and all iPhones, iPods and iPads into the United States.
“Mobile Electronic Devices, Including Wireless Communication Devices, Portable Music and Data Processing Devices, and Tablet Computer.”
Given the whole Samsung/Apple spot so far, it’s highly likely that the FTC will investigate Samsung’s claims, though a final judgement (to ban or not to ban) could take up to 18 months.
After all is said and done we’re pretty sure neither party will invite the other to company cookouts anytime soon. Just sayin’…

While we’ll be the first to admit that we love Android just as much as iOS, Google still has a problem with the various Android versions floating around and getting carriers/manufacturers to actually push out timely updates.
With that said, a new report by Apprupt shows a full 95% of all iPhones are running some flavor of iOS 4 one year after release. The remaining ~5% break down into iOS 3 (4.22%) and iOS 2 (0.17%).
Yes, Android 2.3 adoption is finally getting around to “mainstream” over 6 months after it was initially released, but it’s no where near 95% of the Android ecosystem — a sad fact of reality that Google still refuses to buck up and deal with.
Poll: What version of iOS are you running? Are you merely following the herd with iOS 4.x or reliving the past with iOS 2.x?

Several weeks after hearing of an impending Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the DROID 2, Pro, X2, and Global, we’re still sitting here waiting for said update. Why? According to a new report by Droid-Life, Verizon has stopped all impending/upcoming Gingerbread updates for the aforementioned devices due to a rather large — and still growing — bug list originating from the DROID X’s Gingerbread update that was pushed out back in May.
Unfortunately there isn’t any ETA as to when we can expect a revamped and bug-free Gingerbread update. Though at this point, if you really want a piece of the ‘bread, you know where to look

Hate Apple’s Final Cut Pro X like a growing number of disgruntled users around the web? Wondering when Apple will re-add the many features left or cut out of the newest ‘wares? Lucky for you Apple has prepared a handy little FAQ that looks to stem the flow of negative reviews in a shocking misstep for the company.
Some of the responses are a bit sugarcoated and say that the respective functionality is coming in the near future. Other responses, however, are a bit more blunt stating that certain features are simply not part of Final Cut Pro X.
If you’d like to take a stroll through the FAQ which answers many different questions conerning importing, editing, media management, exporting, and purchasing, check out Apple’s new Final Cut Pro X FAQ page right over here.

Good news for Windows Phone users this morning: Angry Birds is now in the Marketplace — albeit the older, original Angry Birds. But hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right? Get it now for $2.99.
In other news: Sr. Director of Communications for Windows Phone, Bill Cox, tweeted yesterday that not only was Angry Birds, Kik, and GoWalla now available in the WP7 Marketplace, but that today would hold host to some new “juicy news”.
No other tweets or comments have eluded to any possible hints. Though from what we’re hearing, it could be a beta build of Mango for developers. We’ll find out soon enough…
If you passed on the 7″ PlayBook for a bit more screen real state in RIM’s rumored upcoming 10″ version, your night may end a bit more intoxicated than it started. BlackBerry enthusiast site N4BB claims a source of theirs has stated the 10″ PlayBook has been cancelled — cancelled!
The reasoning seems legitimate enough — RIM is focusing all of their efforts on a new QNX-powered “superphone” reportedly powered by a 1.2 GHz processor (the jury is still out on whether it will be single or dual-core), 4.3″ display and 900+ screen resolution.
The QNX “Superphone” is something that’s been rumored for many months now. How close is RIM to releasing the real answer to the iPhone’s and high-end Android devices of 2011? Gritty response: Come back and talk to us sometime in 2012.
Where does that leave the PlayBook? With a void now filling the PlayBook’s future, RIM is said to be pushing the upcoming 4G/LTE PlayBook more heavily in preparation for the planned October 2011 release. Of course, the bigger picture is even more interesting to us. With RIM’s so called “awesome” tablet, what does it say that they’re already abandoning it to focus on their phones? On the flip side, RIM can’t really afford to not put every resource into their smartphone line any longer. It’s literally down to the wire.
