There’s no need to rehash how infatuated we are with European streaming service, Spotify. We’ve written about them numerous times and followed the roller coaster ride of emotions we’ve had over the last couple of years regarding a U.S. launch. That roller coaster ride is almost over, however, as Spotify recently confirmed that a U.S. launch is finally close to reality.
But our wait may be rather short. AllThingD’s Peter Kafka claims Spotify reps are quoting a launch of “next week” to music label execs. Good news for us! Though given the aforementioned roller coaster ride of launch dates that have come and gone without any actual launch, we’ll remain cautious yet optimistic Kafka is right.
We’ve waited a long time for Spotify to hit U.S. shores. And while it isn’t as unique as it once was, there’s still plenty to be excited about. Besides, competition is always a good thing from a consumer’s perspective.
