It appears UK police were duped. The guy they arrested isn’t the real Topiary — Link.

The latest news surrounding now infamous hacker group LulzSec takes a more serious tone this afternoon with reports that the group’s second in command, @atopiary, has been arrested by the UK’s Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU). The man/almost boy is 19 years old and was found at a residential address in the Shetland Islands off the north east coast of Scotland.

Claims that atopiary is in fact “second in command” have not been confirmed, nor has information claiming atopiary’s real name is “Daniel” — a name which has been mentioned in a few leaked files.

Besides being the so-called second in command, it is also believed that Topiary is/was the main public face of LulzSec and operator of the LulzSec Twitter account — last updated 5 hours ago. Topiary’s personal Twitter account has been wiped of previous tweets except for one that reads: “You cannot arrest an idea.”
