Yesterday it was revealed that alleged LulzSec second in command “Topiary” (@atopiary) had been arrested by UK police on the Shetland Islands off the north east coast of Scotland. But is the guy they arrested really Topiary?
LulzSecExposed is reporting the 19-year old man 17-year old man by the name of Daniel Chatfield that the UK police arrested yesterday is not the real Topiary. Instead, the “real” Topiary is a 23-year old Swedish guy called Daniel Sandberg. LulzSecExposed even links to this picture which supposedly shows Topiary on camera. Further supporting the claim that UK police arrested the wrong guy is another article by DailyTech which also cites the same aforementioned link depicting Topiary’s face (allegedly) and also claims that he (Topiary) is a 23-year old Swedish man.
Needless to say, it would be another victory for LulzSec and another massive failure for police as they’ve been rather hot and heavy on the hacker groups’ tails for the last several months without any real headway to speak of.
Stay tuned as we continue following the latest LulzSec and Anonymous news.
Update
Daniel Chatfield just contacted me to inform me that he is in fact 17 (not 19 as was previously reported) and fully complied with police. The police only ended up seizing and searching his computer(s)/equipment because he had important, private information about LulzSec — information the police couldn’t (at the time) legally obtain. Sorry for the error everyone.
