In the world of smartphones there are smartphones and then there are smartphones. The rumored 1.5 GHz dual-core, 12-megapixel packing Sony Ericsson Nozomi is the latter — a true beast among mere mortals. The Nozomi will reputedly pack 12 megapixels of photon capturing power along with an f/2.4 aperture which should help with low-light situations.

So far there hasn’t been a credible leak on the actual design of the phone. But we’ll keep searching…

As a sidenote to the news above — a few days ago Sony Ericsson outright attacked a fan site, Xperiablog.net, with a C&D order claiming the site operated and posted information “in bad faith”. The end result: Xperiablog.net has permanently shut down. If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s simply that Sony/Sony Ericsson/any Sony entity are completely incompetent when it comes to their own fans. You don’t shut down the site of one of the few groups of people who actually willingly and routinely throw money your way despite an abysmal. pro-consumer track record. As if we needed another reason to avoid Sony products…
