The “usefulness” of Siri is still debated by some but at the very least you have to admit she (or he) is entertaining. Apple did an awesome job of programming Siri to act more human and not like every other robotic, voice controller feature in modern existence. But come Sprint 2012 even Siri, our personal digital assistant, will get her own assistant by way of the IRIS 9000.
Compliments of ThinkGeek will, the IRIS 9000 iPhone 4S/Siri attachment will allow you to control and interact with Siri from across the room. For $59.99 it seems a bit expensive for a glorified speaker phone/dock that’s also only compatible with the latest iPhone 4S. Still, the geek in us can’t wait. *Calendar marked*

In the world of smartphones there are smartphones and then there are smartphones. The rumored 1.5 GHz dual-core, 12-megapixel packing Sony Ericsson Nozomi is the latter — a true beast among mere mortals. The Nozomi will reputedly pack 12 megapixels of photon capturing power along with an f/2.4 aperture which should help with low-light situations.
So far there hasn’t been a credible leak on the actual design of the phone. But we’ll keep searching…
As a sidenote to the news above — a few days ago Sony Ericsson outright attacked a fan site, Xperiablog.net, with a C&D order claiming the site operated and posted information “in bad faith”. The end result: Xperiablog.net has permanently shut down. If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s simply that Sony/Sony Ericsson/any Sony entity are completely incompetent when it comes to their own fans. You don’t shut down the site of one of the few groups of people who actually willingly and routinely throw money your way despite an abysmal. pro-consumer track record. As if we needed another reason to avoid Sony products…

While we spend an unhealthy amount of time online, there are some breaks here and there for gaming. Your more popular games such as Call of Duty, Minecraft, etc. snatch up a large amount of the limelight. But our favorite game (by far) and one that we can literally play for days on end, repeatedly, is Grand Theft Auto. We’re not too sure if it’s the endless, free roaming, do whatever you want nature of the game that keeps sucking us in. But whatever it is, we love it. And now the next one is confirmed.
A quick trip to Rockstargames.com will show display the image above. We’ll get our first glimpse at GTA V in a little over a week. Excited?
HTC recently announced a new partnership with popular cloud storage outfit Dropbox. Under said partnership, all users of new (presumably Sense 3.5) HTC Android phones would be gifted 5 GB of free Dropbox storage — up from Dropbox’s normal free starting point of 2 GB. But the love won’t be reserved for only newer HTC device owners any more as a new tweet via HTC’s official Twitter account claims the free cloud storing love is coming to all.
“We’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered with @Dropbox, bringing 5GB of storage to all of our #Android phones.”
We’re still waiting for a response as to whether the change will be automatic (when logging in with an Android HTC device) or if some special action/request is needed on the end users’ side. But even if there’s a hoop or two to navigate through, don’t complain. It’s free cloud storage. Grab it and run!
As always, Conan lolz up the television sets with fun skits and jokes. And as his team has done in the past, again they bring us a funny sketch from the show poking fun at Apple. With the iPhone 4S craze sweeping the world over the past 10 days or so, Apple finally released their commercial. And Conan is right there to help add a fun twist. And yes, we all know what you have probably asked it.
Hop on in for the video. And leave us comments on any funny things you’ve talked about with Siri. I have a long growing list.

The iPhone/iPad-ification of Lowes home improvement stores will soon see employees sporting the gear you see above — iPhones with special debit card scanners. It’s all part of a major tech overhaul affecting Lowes stores across the country (U.S. only) and set to roll out on a large scale throughout 2012. The scanner cases will allow Lowes employees to process mobile payments anywhere in the store and join the iPad kiosks in making the average Lowes customer’s trip faster, easier, and more efficient. “Bring on the tech” we say! Larger images after the break…
Thanks again, Woo

Rumors citing a Sprint 2012 launch for the third generation iPad aren’t all that new. But a new rumor originating from Japanese blog Macotakara (not-translated) unearths a couple of new interesting talking points. First, Macotakara talks of the iPad 3 using a next-gen quad-core A6 processor. Talks of the A6 debuting in the iPad 3 have been floating around for a many weeks themselves. Though recent murmurings surrounding the A6 claim availability for public release (in products such as the iPad 3) won’t happen until later in the year, meaning the iPad 3 launch could be pushed back to late spring/summer. Nonetheless, hearing of these rumors again at least helps add a bit of weight.
Most interesting, however, are claims that the iPad 3 will feature a re-designed dock connector that will make use of the same number of pins but come in a more compact form. The plus side is even smaller, thinner gadgets. The downside, of course, is that older accessories designed for the current dock connector could very well be rendered useless.
Macotakara also touches on the Retina Display rumor in the article — something we’ve heard many times over — but fails to provide any new information. As of writing, the possibilities of having a 2048 x 1536 10″ display are mouthwatering.
For now we’ll have to sit and wait for more info to come our way…
