  • November 28, 2011 11:55 am

In one light, 1996 seems like just yesterday. And then it hits you — that was sixteen years ago. Such a span of time is an eternity in the tech world. It goes without saying Google has undergone a ton of changes since its inception back in 1996. Hop past the break for a great little 6-minute video covering the evolution of Google, starting from its early days to the here and now as well as where Google is aiming to go in the future…

iPhone 4S Unlock In The Works – iPhone 4 Users Out Of Luck

  • November 28, 2011 10:55 am

Well, now that Black Friday and all of it’s shenanigans are over, it is back to the interwebs and all of it’s glory. While you were waiting in line to pick up your brand new oven mits, MuscleNerd was hard at work digging through code to find an exploit that will free the chains – not that they are so hard to get out of – of Apple and allow you to use the JesusPhone on any GSM network across the globe.

It seems that an exploit was found that will give the iPhone 4S users something nifty to look forward too. The unlucky and poor T-Mobile users will enjoy the news as well. It’s down right crazy that this doesn’t work on the iPhone 4 and I bet you Apple is kicking themselves if they didn’t plan on making it easier.

The Unlock won’t be released until there is a working Jailbreak available for the new iPhone, but once it is out, we’ll let you know! Anyone out there still count on the Dev Team unlock?

Will You Be Picking Up A Quad Core Asus Transformer Prime On December 8th?

  • November 28, 2011 10:13 am

There are a lot of awesome deals on current and last-gen technology floating around as we lead up to the holiday season. While we’d heartily recommend a fair amount of said deals, we’d caution the truly addicted gadgeteurs walking around out there to set their sites on December 8th. On that day the quad core Asus Transformer Prime will hit the market bringing with it an extremely versatile tablet + laptop-like experience starting at $499.

While it won’t be the first Tegra 3 device on the market, the combination of upgradability to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and healthy assortment of specs — quad-core processor, 1280 x 800 10.1″ display, 1 GB of RAM, 8MP/1.2MP (rear/front) cameras — are certainly worthy of your attention. The only downside to this seemingly do-anything device is the lack of 3G/4G capabilities as Asus is oddly leaving cellular data services out. Toss in the add-on $149 keyboard as seen in the image above and we’d wager most people could completely ditch the traditional desktop/laptop ecosystem.

You can already find the Transformer Prime for pre-order on a number of online retailers. Now the only question remains: will you bite?

Verizon Wireless Nabbing A White Droid RAZR In Time For The Holidays?

Motorola’s line of manly looking, chiseled phones are generally covered in lots of dark hues, sharp edges, and at times, metallic looking materials. But in the near future, perhaps as soon as this holiday season, things could be getting a bit brighter as a new white Droid RAZR has popped up in VZW’s internal device management system.

The “holiday” claim is nothing but pure speculation on our part. But honestly, what better way to kick of sales of a white phone than during the Christmas season where sales are sure to be at their prime (and there’s theoretically white/snow in many parts of the country)? Of course, there are other months with snow in them too, so we may just have to wait until early 2012 after all.

Watch Siri Control An Entire Room!

  • November 28, 2011 7:56 am

The potential for Siri is understandably quite high. While Apple has limited Siri’s initial abilities, the jailbreak/hacker community has already done some pretty awesome work in picking apart the code to find out just how Siri works. With that hurdle out of the way, developers can begin applying Siri to other aspects of life that Apple could take years to get to, if they ever do at all.

One talented developer by the name of Phildman14 on YouTube posted a video of his iPhone using Siri + Siri Proxy to control a number of items in his room including the curtains, ceiling fan/light, and desk lamp. It’s pretty crazy stuff and just goes to show incredibly powerful and simple Siri is.

Jump inside to see how Siri will begin to control the world, one room at a time…

Report: Apple To Release New 11″, 13″, and 15″ Macbook Airs In Q1 2012.

  • November 28, 2011 7:46 am

If you had any doubts about the importance of Apple’s Macbook Air in their product line ups, now would be a good time to cast them aside. While many still see the Air as a “toy”/not a real computer, a new rumor by BGR citing DigiTimes points to an increasingly heavy focus on the ultra-portable line of laptops. Specifically, DigiTimes is reporting that Apple will launch not only a new 15″ Macbook Air in Q1 2012, but new 11″ and 13″ (11.6 and 13.3 to be exact) Macbook Airs as well. The new machines are reportedly already in production.

If you recall, Apple just revamped the 11″ and 13″ Macbook Airs in late summer, so hearing talk of new 11″ and 13″ Airs so soon (~8 months) after a previous revamp is pretty surprising. Up until now the common belief was a simple introduction of a larger 15″ Air to compliment the already available sizes.

As is usual with Apple product cycle changes, noticeable price drops will precede any new hardware releases.

With all that said, we’re not entirely sure Apple can make the Airs too much thinner with the current hardware on the market (CPU wise) and still retain decent battery life. Intel’s Ivy Bridge platform, the next big jump in processor technology, isn’t due to hit public channels until later next year. For now Apple would have to rely on the same platform they’re using in the Air and Pro lines (Intel’s Sandy Bridge platform) meaning size won’t likely be radically different, nor power dramatically increased unless some super crazy battery tech has been locked away in Cupertino that we haven’t found out about yet.
