If there’s one thing to be said about the ever evolving iOS jailbreak community, it’s this: They always seem to surprise us when “the end of jailbreaking” is apparently near. As Apple adds more and more functionality to iOS with each major release, the reasons to jailbreak lessen. With that said, the few remaining, important reasons to jailbreak include backdoor tethering and of course, system tweaks that Apple will never allow into the App Store. One such tweak launched yesterday by popular iOS hacker, chpwn, is by far the most useful yet simple iOS tweak to hit in recent memory. Introducing: “Zephyr”.
If you’ve seen Nokia’s N9 and its gesture-based multitasking feature, you’ve more or less already got the concept of Zephyr. Swiping up from the bottom of your iOS display will reveal the multitasking tray — same as the current method of double tapping. Similarly, swiping from the far left or right sides of your display to the other will switch you between open applications.
Zephyr is now available on Cydia for $2.99, and is highly, highly worth it. With the features that Apple has “borrowed” and implemented in past/current versions of iOS, we can’t see how Apple wouldn’t pick up chpwn’s Zephyr enhancements in the near future. It just feels right. But don’t take our word for it. Hop past the break for a quick video showing Zephyr in all it’s glory.
