BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Now Available For Download!

RIM’s path over the last 2-3 years has become increasingly difficult thanks to quantum leaps by their competitors. The PlayBook was, in short, RIM’s answer to the iPad. It’s no iPad. But, it does have potential — the OS at least. PlayBook 2.0 builds upon the foundation of the PlayBook OS and brings with it a host of enhancements that quite frankly, should have been in 1.x (and released ~1 year earlier). But alas. Bickering now won’t do anything now. With PlayBook 2.0′s release we’re looking to get a clearer picture of RIM’s future plans with their QNX-based OS for smartphones (coming later this year) as well as finally determine just how feasible a future with RIM actually is.

Moving on, PlayBook OS 2.0 includes some highly sought after features such as a native email app, updated BlackBerry Bridge app, and much more. We’re downloading and installing PlayBook 2.0 on our in-house PlayBook as we type. Because there is a lot to cover, we’re going to give the PlayBook and OS 2.0 a solid 24 hours to once again prove themselves to us.

Stay tuned…
