Itching to get the latest in home networking technology? Look no further than Netgear’s just unveiled R6300 802.11ac router which touts speeds of up to 1.3 Gbps on the 5 GHz band and up to 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. Like just about every other router, wired ethernet ports allow physical connectivity while a pair of USB ports aim to make any external hard drive you have lying around turn into instant network storage. Bonus: printers hooked up via the USB ports on the R6300 will be Air Print compatible with iOS devices.
The only downsides include the high $200 asking price (early adopter never carried the “affordable” label) as well as lack of any real devices to actually make use of all that new-found speed quite yet. Still, owning the claimed “first” 802.11ac router is a pretty lust worthy title, is it not?
