Every once in a while, smartphone manufacturers focus on outright toughness as a main feature to market a specialized device. While we in the tech realm tend to take extremely good care of our smartphones/tablets, there are many industries where they’re not so nice. A tougher skin (literally) is a very real need. That said, there are various military ratings in particular that can be used as good checkpoints to compare between these so called “rugged” devices. But just how tough are they in the real world, off of paper and when faced with real-life scenarios of strength?
Some curious humans decided to follow previous Lumia 900 tests and…use the HTC One X as a hammer to show off how tough its Gorilla Glass display really is. In the video below, you’ll see the poor One X’s glass face repeatedly bashed against the cold, narrow head of a nail. And while it becomes apparent that the One X utterly fails at being a useful hammer, it is pretty cool to see the glass screen stay intact after the beating, not to mention still continuing to fully function as normal.
Yeah. We know. Not new nor the first device to live through such torture. But it’s Friday; news is slowing down for the weekend, your brian is already setting out the “do not disturb notices” and we’re pretty sure none of your are really looking to do too much work today, anyway.
