It’s no secret that Sparrow mail is one of our favorite here at GS headquarters. The well integrated Gmail support and stunningly beautiful UI make it a staple app on our dock. That said, it made it to our dock only after a heavy amount of deep thought and pondering; the lack of Push Notifications for something as crucial and real-time (the way we use it anyway) is a huge negative. Initial efforts by the Sparrow team to get Apple to change the rules regarding a VoIP API failed, meaning the team has to implement their own system on in house servers.
Outside of Push Notifications, the second most widely requested feature — iPad support. Well, It’s coming. A new sign-up page on Sparrow’s website simply states that they are “Preparing something bigger”. Maybe, just maybe Sparrow will announce their new Push Notification service once they launch their new iPad app. (Though, we’d hope said functionality arrives sooner rather than later. We need it desperately.)
Any iPad owners out there chomping at the bit to get Sparrow’s beautiful pixels on that massive Retina display?
