Huawei Announces Activa 4G For MetroPCS. LTE On The Cheap.

MetroPCS may not get all of the exclusive handsets the bigger carriers like AT&T and Verizon, but they do get to claim “first” every now and then. Today is one such “first”, as Chinese phone manufacturer, Huawei, has announced that they are bringing their first LTE device to the U.S., and launching it in partnership with MetroPCS. That said, if you’re looking for a power house (or even a mid-range device), look elsewhere.

The Activa 4G Android smartphone features a 3.5″ HVGA display, 5-megapixel camera, single-core 800 MHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. No word was given as to whether or not the Avtiva 4G would have an Android 4.0 ICS upgrade path. But if we had to go out on a limb, we’d advise you not to hold your breath. Like we said, it’s far from One X/GS III territory. Then again, the price tag is also considerably less than the aforementioned devices, too. Get it in MetroPCS stores and online now for $149 with instant rebate. Mind you, that’s $149 with no contract. Yeah, a bit more intriguing now, isn’t it?
