[Update] Galaxy S III Delays – AT&T Responds. (Sprint Too)

Despite a previously quoted June 21st release date for Samsung’s new Galaxy S III handset, it appears AT&T (and more importantly) the world over has requested one too many, with Samsung having trouble meeting deadlines at their various carrier partners. AT&T in particular has finally come forward regarding Galaxy S III delay rumors, confirming that some orders originally promised to arrive by today, June 21st, will in fact not. It’s not too bad, though. AT&T maintains that what doesn’t arrive today should arrive by June 25th at the very latest.

“Manufacturer supply constraints of the 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy S III have caused a delay to expected pre-order shipments. Customers who were previously quoted a delivery date of June 21st should now expect their device to arrive no later than Monday, June 25th. We currently estimate future pre-orders to arrive within 10 business days based on available supply. Impacted customers will receive both an SMS and email notifying them of this change.”

Yeah. It sucks — especially if you’re one of the affected buyers waiting for their Galaxy S III to show up. But rest assured, your phone is on its way.

Update: Looks like the Galaxy S III on Sprint is going to be a hard item to find (at least initially), too. Sprint is claiming that initial pre-orders for the 16 GB model should begin arriving today, though, 32 GB isn’t going to begin shipping until next week. Furthermore, Sprint doesn’t have any updated release date information as to when customers can order online or in-store themselves.

Due to overwhelming demand for Galaxy S III worldwide, Samsung has informed us they will not be able to deliver enough inventory of Galaxy S III for Sprint to begin selling the device on June 21. We are working closely with Samsung on a delivery schedule to support our launch.

We have begun shipping pre-orders for the 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S III and anticipate they will be delivered by June 21. We hope to begin shipping pre-orders for the 32GB version next week as we receive inventory. Customers can check the status of their pre-order at www.sprint.com/myorder.
