Previous leaks that allegedly showed a rough mock-up of what a Nexus tablet (by Asus) might look like have received a much more credible shot of confirmation thanks to a new report by Bloomberg.
Citing “two sources familiar with the matter”, Bloomberg reiterates that Google will in fact unveil their first “Nexus” branded tablet. Similarly, Bloomberg also mentioned the same $199 price point we’ve heard floating around, though they failed to offer up any confirmation on rumored specs.
The big draw to the Nexus line of smartphones is the line’s lack of carrier and manufacturer branded bloatware, apps delayed updates and more. For tablets, however, that are often sold a premium price and generally untouched by manufactures and carriers (at least touched less), the Nexus line is a bit less “unique” in a sense. But don’t take that statement the wrong way. We’re very much excited for a Nexus tablet tomorrow, and for more Nexus branded tablets in the future. Of course, we wouldn’t mind seeing Google actually doing something with that new hardware manufacturer *cough* Motorola *cough* they just acquired. Having their own line to compete with other Android manufacturers might seem bad on the surface, and will very likely turn some off, it could greatly help Google offer a truly unique experience that no manufacturer has been able to as of yet.
The fun begins tomorrow…
