Mac hardware is now more powerful than ever. Hell. The Retina Macbook Pro I’m typing on right now is in many benchmarks, faster than the multi-core, full-size Mac Pro desktop that just got a mild refresh. But even with all of this new-found power, the actual software (more specifically, games) is what really needs updated. Mac support for leading game titles is still abysmal. My biggest time waster on OS X in the gaming realm is Left 4 Dead 2, a fantastic zombie/shooter. If it weren’t for my Windows gaming rig, I’d be so far past “tired” of L4D2. But very soon I’ll have something new to play on my favorite OS, Call of Duty: Black Ops.
This fall, Aspyr Media will bring one of the best selling Call of Duty games of all time to the Mac platform, along with all of the previously released DLC packs. Yeah. It’s 1+ years late to the party as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, this spring’s (whoops) last November’s big release for the CoD franchise, has already replaced Black Ops as the CoD favorite amongst many gamers. And later this year in November, the franchise will once again get another new release, Black Ops 2. In that light, the original Black Ops coming to the Mac is a bit of a joke, really.
Despite being an “old” game, I certainly can’t wait to begin (natively) tag teaming our friends in Black Ops front he comfy confines of OS X. You?
