Our favorite Mail.app replacement, Sparrow, has just been updated to version 1.6.2 in the Mac App Store. The biggest new feature worth highlighting is none other than support for Apple’s new Retina MacBook Pro and its gargantuan resolution.
Besides the highly sought after Retina graphics update, Sparrow also included several other goodies in 1.6.2:
- Option to always expand messages option
- Option to always show the ‘i’ section
- Fix for close/minimize/zoom button behavior
- *enabling always show info will show info of the opened messages
- *enabling always expand all will expand all messages
- Mountain Lion and Notification Center support
- Send & Archive in Quick reply
New features aside, bug fixes in 1.6.2 address Growl Notification with Growl 1.3, Growl Notification for POP accounts and an improvement in memory consumption.
If you haven’t tried Sparrow for Mac, we highly recommend it as one of (if not the best) replacements for the stock Mail.app. In our opinion, it looks nicer. On top of that, it has more features that email power users (specifically, Gmail power users) will love.
