The elusive and often rumored “iPad Mini” has seen yet another leak suggestion the mythical device is in fact real. iOS site, ThinkiOS posted what they believe are legitimate diagrams for an iPad Mini case.
The noteworthy things to take away here are the 7-inch screensize going against virtually every other credible news source saying otherwise (7.85-inches). Also, the thickness of the iPad Mini will truly be something to admire, coming in at just 7.3mm thin. Crazy thin. The 4th-gen iPod Touch mind you is 7.2mm thin while the current 3rd-gen full-size iPad is 9.4mm thick.
Finally, ThinkiOS’ source reiterates that Apple is transitioning to a new, smaller dock connector. This particular rumor says 19-pin.
The iPad Mini has been highly requested since the original iPad was unveiled. As awesome as that 9.7-inch display is, sometimes you just want something a little more mobile. And while the current iPad is hardly immobile, we can understand the draw towards a smaller tablet. In our opinion, the BlackBerry PlayBook (and similarly sized tablets like Google’s upcoming Nexus 7) are the perfect blend between smartphone and full-size tablet.
If reports by the WSJ, Bloomberg and a number of other news sources are correct, Apple should unveil and launch the iPad Mini later this year to throngs of ecstatic repeat and new users.
