Early on it was revealed that among other things, the 2012 Olympic games in London would not be a hotbed of 3G hotspot activity, despite the ever increasing focus on social media and the internet. In order to keep cellular interference down (not to mention data speeds somewhat passable), a 3G hotspot ban was put into effect. Almost immediately jokes of “WiFi police” roaming around began trickling out.
Well…it’s true. The guy above (and many more men and women like him) walk around the Olympic grounds with a giant hand-carried antenna sniffing for illicit WiFi hot spots.
So, Olympic attendees with hotspots still running wild. Look out for the guy/gal with a big red antenna in their hands. They’re not your friend.
