Facebook Blocks Access To Vine’s “Find Friends” Feature Less Than 24 Hours After Launch

20130125-085154.jpgLook. It’s no secret that Instagram/Facebook and Twitter/Vine are two opposing forces in this universe. Each major entity hates the other, especially when they try ti interact with user data. So it’s both not surprising (though still infuriating) that Facebook has already blocked Twitter-owned Vine from finding Facebook friends who also use the service.

Ever since Facebook swooped in and snatched Instagram from Twitter, the two have been increasingly hostile to each with with bullshit business decisions like this. And for what? For who? Certainly not users. Any claims by any party involved that blocked access somehow improves the overall experience are are nothing more than lies. It’s all about the almighty dollar. And while businesses need to keep their real customers (hint: shareholders and investors) happy, it almost always comes at the expense of user experience/happiness. Today’s development with Vine and Facebook just solidifies this fact even further.

And so we have another reason to use Facebook less…

(We’ve reached out to Facebook to get their official statement on the matter.)
