April Fools Day is upon us, and I couldn’t wait to see what Google had in store. If you remember a year ago, we posted about the 8-bit Google Maps which was by far one one of the greatest things to ever hit the web, but the Maps department is at it again, assisting us in finding treasures and avoiding Pirates.
The Google Maps Street View Team has uncovered a chest of treasure maps that will take all of us to help encode. During a deep-water dive to help expand their underwater Street View collection, the team discovered what is assumed to be clues to Captain Kidd’s long-lost buried treasure. They have digitized the map in hopes we can all discover clues to assist in uncovering all of Kidd’s treasure.
As you can see above, I am sitting right on top of one of the buried treasure locations, also, very funny at the “Put a Bird On It” reference from Portlandia!
Please be vigilant, watch out for pirates, and post what you find at the Google Plus page for Google Maps, and happy hunting!
