Verizon isn’t exactly the most prolific carrier when it comes to Android updates. On top of that they’re rarely the ones screaming “FIRST!!!”. But today, Verizon and Motorola have completely turned the status quo on its head by announcing the VZW Moto X is getting Android 4.4 KitKat starting today. Mind you, in tyipcal Google fashion this is a rolling update meaning different users will get the update in groups and not all at once.

All that said, all of Kitkat’s sweet goodness such as an improved phone dialer, tweaked photo gallery, improved camera software, touchless control and more. For enthusiasts also make note that you’re not going to be able to downgrade, according to Motorola. Your best bet is to wait for the community to come up with some tweaks for ROM purposes.
