While surfing the web I happened to fall upon the Nike+ FuelBand. When I first saw it it looked like the Jawbone Up, but just better. So what is this? It’s a band that you wear on your wrist that records every step you take and counts all the calories you lost. This is not like the Jawbone Up, it’s mainly for athletic people. They call it a FuelBand because it starts at red and once you’ve worked out and reached your preset goal, it turns green.
Tech Specs:
- Small- WM0073-001 (5.79 inches / 147 millimeters)
- Medium- WM0074-001 (6.77 inches / 172 millimeters)
- Large- WM0075-001 (7.76 inches / 197 millimeters)
It has a 20 LED display that shows you Daily Goal progress throughout the day. Then there’s 100 white LEDS that shows time, NikeFuel earned, calories earned, and steps taken. There’s even an iPhone app to monitor your progress using Bluetooth. As for the device’s endurance itself, Nike claims the the Nike+ FuelBand can hold a charge for up to four days.
It’s up for pre-order right now for $149.00 and ships on February 22.

An Atari 2600 is seen by many gaming enthusiasts as a great piece of Americana. Retro gaming consoles are a huge draw for collectors and geeks alike. And while we had to see classic pieces of art such as the Atari 2600 ripped apart, we admire and appreciate Daniel McLeod of Black Mountain Audio for taking the old and making it new (and useful) again.
Daniel replaced the innards of your standard Atari 2600 with two speakers and a subwoofer as well as modding an old 2600 cartridge into a 30-pin iPhone/iPod compatible charging device. The end result is perhaps the best custom iPhone dock we’ve seen to date; no flashy lights, gimmicky additions, or tacky colors. Just original, simple, Atari + Apple love.
Think it’s worth $100? You can buy it over at Daniel’s Etsy page

After an issue with Wi-Fi connectivity, Asus has announced that the Tegra quad-core Transformer Prime will hit US shelves December 19th, just in time for Christmas.
However, the folk across the pond in the UK can expect to get their hands on the tablet some time in January. Brits will also be lacking in choice as the Prime will come bundled with the laptop dock accessory, which will be an optional $149 purchase in the States. How much will the bundle cost? A pricey £499 (around $775) is what Asus is asking for, a tad higher than other Android tablets, a smidgen more than the 32Gb iPad 2, and above-par for standard laptops (around £400). In comparison, Asus will be selling the Transformer Prime sans dock for $499, making the bundle a more affordable $648.
Are Asus following Apple’s suit by adding a hefty tax for their devices in the UK? Will you be able to afford the Prime when it eventually releases in January?

U.S. PS Vita owners have but one choice — AT&T. It appears European owners will have fate/option as well (at least for now) as Sony has officially spilled the beans on their European carrier partners for the European bound PS Vita. Vodafone will be the “preferred partner” for the near-term which seems to point to a potential second, third, or more additions in carrier support later on down the road.
The list of European launch countries under Vodafone’s reach include: UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands (SFR in France).
Pricing for the PS Vita 3G will be €299.99 (£261), with the WiFi-only version going for €50 less at €249.99 (£217). Any potential monthly/one-time fee for 3G service hasn’t been divulged. Also unknown — whether or not the initial batch of 3G PS Vitas are tied to Vodafone permanently or will have the option to be unlocked and roam to another carrier at some point in the future.
For fans of Sony’s mobile gaming platform who want the ultimate mobility by way of 3G service, how is the PS Vita shaping up for you?

Nothing is more important to a die-hard gadget lover than battery power. The demands we place on our beloved phones, tablets and PMPs is simply growing too fast. There are options, however. Certain phones have cases with built-in batteries allowing additional runtime. And to cover all bases (phones) there are external battery packs with varying types of ports that allow users to plug in a myriad of gadgets for on-the-go charging. Unfortunately the most resourceful (read: biggest) battery packs aren’t always the most portable.
Seeing as how geeks/techies usually carry spare batteries, cables, devices, etc, there’s a bag involved. With that said, what if your bag was the power source?
Join us today as we take a look at the innovative PowerBag mobile charging solution and see if it is truly a geek’s best friend…

If you remember about a day after the release of JailbreakMe 3.0 on the web, we had posted about the jailbreak utility being downloaded over 1,000,000 times. Here we are around 4 days later and we have already doubled that number.
@chpwn has posted a tweet this past evening stating there has already been over 2,000,000 clicks on the jailbreak button – This is huge! It’s amazing to see the popularity of jailbreaking your iDevice. When freeing it from the shackles of Apple you unleash the true potential of the iPhone. You create so much more fun with your iPods and iPads. The hard working devs that want you to have amazing tweaks and themes that Apple doesn’t want. The benefits for sure out weigh the risks(not that there are any). Congrats to @comex for such another amazing utility and hopefully every iDevice is jailbroken by the end of July!
