One little thing about Android that is kind of neat is that each new release carries a general revision name that is different from most -- titled after desert. First it was Android 1.5 (Cupcake), then 1.6 (Donut), 2.0 (Eclair), 2.1 (Flan), 2.2 (Froyo), and finally, the upcoming Android 3.0 is believed to be called "Gingerbread". But that's not Android's last stop. No sir, not by a long stretch.
According to multiple sources of TechRadar UK, the next iteration of Android after Gingerbread ...
OS 6 for BlackBerry Torch leaked!

Have an itch to get your hands on the latest and greatest BlackBerry OS?! Never mind the simple fact that the Torch is the only BlackBerry that has a working version of OS 6 and the fact that it's not even for sale yet. Small beans they are. For the true CrackBerry user, merely having the 1's and 0's that make up the best effort from RIM yet is enough to send chills down your spin.
Fair enough. Go and get it: BlackBerry Torch OS 6 download.

What do you want to see in webOS 2.0?

Fresh off the heels of an announcement by HP's Jon Rubenstein, we now can expect webOS 2.0 by the end of this year. No details were given unfortunately, so we'll have to resort to good 'ol fashioned guestimating and hypothesizing for now. Though after having a brief stint with a Palm Pre Plus a few months back as well as listening to tons of consumer feedback, I'd hope speed and stability are high up on the list. Speed, especially speed. Coming from iOS and Android, webOS was a dog. A few e...
Android Wednesday: Samsung YP-MB2, New LivePrints Live Wallpaper, and new Froyo doubts on Milestone

First up -- the Samsung YP-MB2. You can't really tell much by blurry photo above, but if the few rumors that are floating around are to be believed, we're looking at a Samsung Galaxy S sans phone capabilities. Basically, it's an Apple-isque iPhone-to-iPod Touch type of deal. The YP-MB2 will feature the same 1GHz Hummingbird processor, Android 2.1, 4" Super AMOLED display, WiFI, DMB, GPS, 3MP camera, and of course, access to the Android Market that the Galaxy S phone variants enjoy. I for one...
BlackBerry OS 6 and webkit browser come out swingin’ in video trifecta…

It's no secret that RIM has been lacking as of late in the mobile OS war. When compared to the likes of Apple, Android, Palm, (and even Nokia in some aspects), RIM has remained fairly stagnant. But OS 6 looks to change that all -- or at least try. There's been several videos released so far, showing off a fair amount of the upcoming OS. Though one feature in particular -- the webkit browser -- is probably one of, if not the most important updates heading to CrackBerry users later this year. ...

RIM isn't the only game in town gunning for the consumers' dollar. While their BlackBerry Protect (Enterprise for the consumer) suite is promising all of the great enterprise features that signify BlackBerry for all consumers, Microsoft has something of their own to dish out -- a Windows Phone Live website. Much like RIM's offering, Windows Phone Live online will allow customers to sync just about any type of data you can think of, be it notes, contacts, emails, etc., between cloud and device....

Android fanatics looking for the latest and greatest need to stop by Cyanogenmod's website and have a look around, as the latest 6.0 RC1 Rom is now available for the taking. I've been using 6.0 RC1 for around 12 hours now without a single force close in sight. It's rock solid stable and super fast. Though, I did kick ADW launcher off and replaced it with Launcher Pro Beta (personal favorite). Other than that, I've left it bone stock.
If you're a past fan of Cyanogenmod Roms or simply ...

Android power users know that the only thing that stands between a decent Android device and a great Android device is a well needed root. Even though Android comes fairly aplomb with features and functionality from the factory, there's still areas that can be built upon. Not to mention, getting "official releases" weeks before they drop is fun too.
With that said, CyanogenMod 6 (Google it if you don't know what it is) is moving along quite well according to a new status report on CM's ...
Meego dev team releases screenshots and video to oogle at, hold us over for the time being..

I had pretty much given up on Nokia up until the point they announced Meego in conjunction with Intel. Don't get me wrong, Symbian was awesome -- 6 years ago. Over the last few years however, several other contenders have surpassed Nokia by leaps and bounds. But there is hope.
The development team behind Meego took it upon themselves to release some new screenshots and video of "Meego Day 1" in action. I have ot admit, it looks really good for as early of a preview as it is. Some early...

Froyo is just starting to trickle out to the masses and it's already "been there done that". News of Android 3.0 has been floating around for some time now, though specs and any details have been few and far between. But a man with a long track record of nearly spot on assumptions and claims -- Mobile-Review's Eldar Murtazin -- goes on to flex his muscle over the upcoming Android 3.0 overhaul. Translating the cryptic Russian podcast which divulged the luscious info was done by Unwired View,...

Critics often harp on Android for it's OS fragmentation. Their points are generally valid though. There's no reason to continually release new hardware with software that's 2-4 generations removed. Moving on, Samsung appears to be learning from their T-Mo Behold II folly and has made it public via Twitter that all of the new upcoming Galaxy S variants will come with Android 2.1 and receive Android 2.2 updates in the near future. Mind you, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular are all sl...
