Give your Berry a little bit of that Nexus touch with “BeNexus”. [BlackBerry Theme]

  • January 19, 2010 11:27 am

Wield a BlackBerry but finding yourself taking a particular liking to the Nexus One’s pretty face? You’re now in luck! A rather slick and true to it’s roots Nexus One theme by JMal and Ahaz Designs dubbed “BeNexus” aims to make your BlackBerry go incognito, rockin’ an Android look.

There have been plenty of Android themes created and released for the BlackBerry platform since Android first launched. In my opinion however, BeNexus is one of if not the nicest BlackBerry themes yet .

Better than just a pretty face, there are all kinds of shortcuts and extra goodies packed in. For example, the Google Search bar is an actual working widget ala Android. The notification bar on the top is also functional, giving drop down options to read new messages.

Overall it’s not just a good Android theme but an awesome BlackBerry theme all things considered. Coupled with a $3.99 price until January 24th means you have to try it out. Get downloadin’!

Winterize your Berry with HedoneDesign’s “SnowTime” theme.

snowtime-theme

With the release of BlackBerries packing faster processors means faster navigation, better performance in applications, and for those with an eye towards design — cleaner, more premium themes. In the case of HedoneDesign’s new SnowTime BlackBerry theme, those who are absolutely infatuated with winter, snow, and everything that Christmas memories bring will find this new theme quite a treat. The main idea here is simple and elegant. You’ll notice the homescreen only features a couple of user customizable icons and the standard signal and battery meter. Other than that, a scenic winter wonderland background aims to make the most out of all those tiny pixels inhabiting your screen.

Even more stylish than the simple layout however is the animated falling snow in the background. Older models such as the 83xx series may notice a slight sluggishness from time to time (at least I always did with animated themes), but if that isn’t your concern or you have a newer BlackBerry with the faster muscle under the hood, then by all means give SnowTime a try. It really is something to see.

SnowTime is available for all BlackBerry devices 83xx and up (excluding 81xx and 88xx devices) for $6.99. If you purchase SnowTime before December 10th, you can walk away with a discount — sale price of $3.99. Remember, it’s only $3.99 until December 10th. Better get a move on it…

Snowman theme brings holiday cheer and animation to your BlackBerry

It used to be that BlackBerry themes of years and devices past were best in their static form. A few clever and crafty theme developers deviated from the standard BlackBerry theme and added bits of animation here and there. The only problem is that older BlackBerry devices were grossly underpowered with a meager 312MHz processor meaning any animation found in themes resulted in slow, stuttery navigation and an overall sub-par user experience. That was then, this is now: 600+ MHz BlackBerries with much more capable hardware. WIth that said, themes such as the Snowman Theme (designed by “TemasBlackBerry”) can now be used and enjoyed with smooth and stutter-free usage.

The Snowman Theme isn’t the most “far out” there BlackBerry theme. Though, as mentioned, the snow falling animation is a nice touch that makes it unique. Six user-customizable icons don the home screen and quick access to connection manager and profiles via the relocated and truncated banner located bottom right. Overall, the mix of holiday cheer, clean and simple layout, and smooth animation make for a well spent $5.00. Anyone else feeling like grabbing a piece of holiday cheer?

Luny BlackBerry Theme

It’s that time again. Time for another unique and interesting BlackBerry Theme. Today’s theme comes from a website that I don’t cover very often. Though don’t discount the theme developers because of it as they are quite talented. The site, Gemblock, has had some pretty cool themes come out from behind it’s digital walls in the past. The latest theme, “Luny” continues that tradition. What immediately got my attention were the two custom battery/signal meters. I love custom meters, even more so than icons and all of the other UI stuff. Why? No clue. I like what I like. And the meters in Luny are freakin’ cool. But meters alone can’t make an awesome theme. So what else is there?

  • 2 WB Icon Placements
  • 5 Customizable Dock Icons
  • 5 Today Items Appear on Icon Rollover
  • 8 Item Hidden Today

Intrigued? Luny is available for BlackBerry devices: Curve 8900, Bold 9000, Storm 95xx, and Tour 9630. At only $4.99 it’s a relative bargain considering the amount of work that the developer invested. Of course, the fact that most other premium themes go for $6.99+ doesn’t hurt either.

LineUp for 8900, 9000, and 9630 [BlackBerry Theme]

line-up

Those in the market for a fresh premium BlackBerry theme have another option today with LineUp. While the basic layout is radically unique, the colors used throughout show that the designer, Brandy R. over at Artistic-Me have quite the eye for good design. The theme which is available in either a bottom dock or plus style will cater to most users’ needs. LineUp is available for 8900, 9000, and 9630 devices for $6.99 from Artistic-Me.com. If I had a Berry I’d definitely give this theme a try. Unfortunately I’ll just have to make due with staring.

Digital Pro [BlackBerry Theme]

Hedone Design seems to be keeping a break neck pace on the theme front as they are churning out incredibly rich themes fairly often. Hey, I’m not complaining, I like change. The coolest part about their latest theme, “Digital Pro”, is that it takes a more reserved approach as to not embarrass at the office. Even if you don’t work in a stuffy, cold cubicle in some dark corner, this theme is sharp. Interested parties have two options with Digital Pro: V1 or V2. V1 features 6 user-customizable icons on the homescreen while V2 features 10 scrolling user customizable icons. I would personally take the 10 just because the icons don’t clutter the desktop as they scroll out of sight and who doesn’t like more shortcuts/icons? Anywho, hit up Hedone Design and pick up your copy of Digital Pro for $6.99 today.

BlackBerry Theme: Dark Room

  • September 2, 2009 1:31 pm

dark-room-theme

When I made BlackBerry themes just a couple years ago, I always loved making my own battery and signal meters. To me, a custom theme wasn’t that that unique or cool unless cusotm icons were used. Moving forward, BlackBerry themes have moved forward exponentially in complexity and style with the latest themes completely blowing away anything I made. Likewise, the meters that are being created from various theme designers are truly innovative and unique. One such new theme that branches off into a new style is that of “Dark Room”. This new theme designed by Calx is one in a million by incorporating a new twist on the meters — Calx blew them up to epic sizes and centered them around the BlackBerry logo on the homescreen. It is definitely a minimalistic style theme as the meter artwork is the showcase.

Besides the bigger than life meters, the rest of the theme follows the name in that it is darker with sleek lines and crisp, beautiful icons. If I still had a working BlackBerry, this theme would definitely be on it…right now! Like most other premium themes now, Dark Room comes in at $6.99, though I’d hardly complain. The $6.99 goes towards one heck of a BlackBerry theme and encourages Calx to continue on in his work, hopefully wowing us again in the near future. BlackBerry Theme: Focus

Focus-1

Are you the type of BlackBerry user who enjoys custom themes? Custom themes that emphasize the wallpaper, taking a minimalistic approach? If so, a new theme from Elecite called “Focus is sure to catch your eye. Featuring a circular navigation menu, the center hub that houses 8 icons plus the time giving you quick access to a fairly large number of your favorite apps.

Since this theme highlights stunning wallpapers, it only seems fitting that Elecite includes a few — 10 to be exact. 10 gorgeous wallpapers rotate on your Berry’s homescreen at set intervals. While the backgrounds are fixed and not user customizable, there should be at least one background included for everyone.

In order to rock this theme, you’ll need a device with an OS of 4.5 or higher on the following devices:

  • 8350i, 85xx, 8900, 9000, 95xx and 96xx

**No device with OS .151 will work with this theme.

Anyone looking to get in on this wonderfully crafted theme can head on over to Elecite and get ready to enjoy some of the finest BlackBerry themes available.
