Newest theme from Elecite: Keen [BlackBerry Theme]

  • January 26, 2010 2:38 pm

Want to make your Berry a more literal expression of your inner being? Cases and skins are cool, sure. But nothing is as dynamic and customizable as a custom theme for you Berry. Besides, changing organized pairs of 1′s and 0′s on screen is many times easier than changing some piece of stick on paper or molded plastic.

Meet Elecite’s new BlackBerry theme “Keen”. Featuring a more transparent and glassy look, this theme is best served by an equally impressive wallpaper. Beyond the background, Keen features 6-8 customizable icons, 4-5 locked “quick access” icons, and a small preview/today area beneath.

Personally, I don’t have any need for a quick preview/today area but can certainly understand the draw and reasons why many do. To each his own. Personal opinions aside, no one can argue with the fact that Keen is sleek and gorgeous to lay eyes on. For $6.99, any modern Berry rockin’ OS 5.0 can get in on the action.

Give your Berry a little bit of that Nexus touch with “BeNexus”. [BlackBerry Theme]

  • January 19, 2010 11:27 am

Wield a BlackBerry but finding yourself taking a particular liking to the Nexus One’s pretty face? You’re now in luck! A rather slick and true to it’s roots Nexus One theme by JMal and Ahaz Designs dubbed “BeNexus” aims to make your BlackBerry go incognito, rockin’ an Android look.

There have been plenty of Android themes created and released for the BlackBerry platform since Android first launched. In my opinion however, BeNexus is one of if not the nicest BlackBerry themes yet .

Better than just a pretty face, there are all kinds of shortcuts and extra goodies packed in. For example, the Google Search bar is an actual working widget ala Android. The notification bar on the top is also functional, giving drop down options to read new messages.

Overall it’s not just a good Android theme but an awesome BlackBerry theme all things considered. Coupled with a $3.99 price until January 24th means you have to try it out. Get downloadin’!

New “Poser” theme from Elecite brings new approach to customizing your theme

  • December 18, 2009 2:04 pm

poser-4The days of being able to simply change your wallpaper and calling that the end of your customizing rope are over. A new BlackBerry theme by Elecite takes a rather unique and exciting departure from the typical world of BlackBerry themes. Instead of merely having the ability to change your background and maybe move the icons a bit, Poser gives you a new, untold amount of options.

The whole concept of the theme revolves around customizing an avatar and yes, wallpaper too. The number of avatars available is pretty high with Stewie from Family Guy and a stealthy Ninja being two of my personal favorite. But the customization doesn’t stop there. With each avatar you choose you can further drill down in the options and change features such as the head, outfit, weapon, accessories — even giving the poor creation a pet.

All of this seems like it would cause the greedy theme dev to jack up the price. Thankfully that’s not the case. $3.49 and your’re out the door rockin’ your new theme.

**Super cool side note: If you think your poser/avatar is the coolest of the cool, take a screenshot and send it to [email protected] for a chance to win a top spot in the 10 best posers. The 10 best winners will receive a refund from purchasing the Poser theme as well as another theme of your choice free. What are you waiting for?!

Winterize your Berry with HedoneDesign’s “SnowTime” theme.

With the release of BlackBerries packing faster processors means faster navigation, better performance in applications, and for those with an eye towards design — cleaner, more premium themes. In the case of HedoneDesign’s new SnowTime BlackBerry theme, those who are absolutely infatuated with winter, snow, and everything that Christmas memories bring will find this new theme quite a treat. The main idea here is simple and elegant. You’ll notice the homescreen only features a couple of user customizable icons and the standard signal and battery meter. Other than that, a scenic winter wonderland background aims to make the most out of all those tiny pixels inhabiting your screen.

Even more stylish than the simple layout however is the animated falling snow in the background. Older models such as the 83xx series may notice a slight sluggishness from time to time (at least I always did with animated themes), but if that isn’t your concern or you have a newer BlackBerry with the faster muscle under the hood, then by all means give SnowTime a try. It really is something to see.

SnowTime is available for all BlackBerry devices 83xx and up (excluding 81xx and 88xx devices) for $6.99. If you purchase SnowTime before December 10th, you can walk away with a discount — sale price of $3.99. Remember, it’s only $3.99 until December 10th. Better get a move on it…

Snowman theme brings holiday cheer and animation to your BlackBerry

It used to be that BlackBerry themes of years and devices past were best in their static form. A few clever and crafty theme developers deviated from the standard BlackBerry theme and added bits of animation here and there. The only problem is that older BlackBerry devices were grossly underpowered with a meager 312MHz processor meaning any animation found in themes resulted in slow, stuttery navigation and an overall sub-par user experience. That was then, this is now: 600+ MHz BlackBerries with much more capable hardware. WIth that said, themes such as the Snowman Theme (designed by “TemasBlackBerry”) can now be used and enjoyed with smooth and stutter-free usage.

The Snowman Theme isn’t the most “far out” there BlackBerry theme. Though, as mentioned, the snow falling animation is a nice touch that makes it unique. Six user-customizable icons don the home screen and quick access to connection manager and profiles via the relocated and truncated banner located bottom right. Overall, the mix of holiday cheer, clean and simple layout, and smooth animation make for a well spent $5.00. Anyone else feeling like grabbing a piece of holiday cheer?

VistoThemes returns with a few BlackBerry 9700 themes: BB OSX, Droid 2.0, and Docked

While Corey over at VistoThemes has been pretty quiet for a while, it’s nice to see that he hasn’t given up BlackBerry theming for good as he’s freshed up a few of his older themes for the new BlackBerry 9700. Those themes include: BB OSX, Droid 2.0, and Docked. Back in the day (all of one roughly one year ago) when I carried a BlackBerry around, VistoThemes was one of my favorite theme shops. Hopefully Corey begins cranking out themes like he used to because he had quite some lookers. If you’re in the market for a quality made BlackBerry theme and top notch support, go ahead and give Corey’s themes a try.
