Cocktail Robot = Best thing ever!

  • March 3, 2010 8:44 pm

Is the boozin’ getting a tad bit too boring for you? Are you and your friends looking for a new exciting (i.e. geeky) way to mix your party drinks? Well the fellas over at Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories created the “Drink Making Unit” to spice up your drink mixing evenings ( or mornings if you are like me ;) ) Wouldn’t it be amazing if you were at a bar and the bartender had a 8×8 RGB LED Matrix instead of a face? This beautiful little robot has 3 different fluid paths, which means only 3 liquors into one drink. The thing even has an ice bucket to keep the drinks chilled as they pass through the system. Something you won’t believe is that it uses a breast pump to lift the liquid through the device; kinda funny, booze usually leads to the usage of a breast pump, but now you get to continue the circle of life!

If anyone is willing to build one of these, I will definitely accept it as a gift and will spend many nights ‘beta testing’ to see how it functions, and I promise to report any bugs I may find. Please, build this for me…

Breathalyzer has hidden agenda — sniffs out lung cancer on the cheap

  • September 1, 2009 8:47 am

breathalyzer
While handheld/personal breathalyzers are a drinkers best friend as the difference between a good night with a sweet morning or a bad night resulting in a hefty fine and lengthy jail stint is a mere 0.08%. For those who don’t drink, a breathalyzer is obviously useless. For those that do, and do so often or simply want to know precisely when they’ve had a tad too much. Sure you can get any run of the mill breathalyzer that sniffs out alcohol on your breath. Or, you can go the extra mile and get a little extra bang for your buck. How so? How about a breathalyzer with a built in lung cancer sniffer? Sound science fictional? Scientist in Israel are close to getting an actual working portable breathalyzer and lung cancer sniffing device that as you can guess, will determine your blood alcohol level and if you have lung cancer. Spiffy huh. Before, pretreatement of your breath was needed, adding extra time, complexity, and procedures into the mix that ultimately slow down the overall process. However, this new method can do without that pesky pretreatement junk meaning faster detection and hopefully recovery. Hopefully the kinks can be worked out in the near term so that Lung cancer patients’ longevity can be increased, providing them with longer years of healthy living.

Beer Pager: Man’s, Beer’s best friend

  • August 27, 2009 8:38 am

Beer-pager

We’ve all been there, you’re at some social gathering/party and you can’t remember where you sat your beer down. Normally such travesties mean endless minutes searching frantically for your beloved beverage. Often times, someone else has claimed it, or you find it next to some questionable people with shifty eyes. Such people and scenarios often leave you nervous opting to instead abandoned your trust friend and search out for a new one. But what if you could find your beer faster by “calling” it?

Now you can with the Beer Pager. Featuring a koozie like design for your beer to slip in to, a remote that stays in the beer drinkers pocket becomes a beacon of light. When you lose your precious, simply press the button on the remote and listen for the belching sound calling out for your return. As long as you’re within 60 feet of your beer, you should be able reunite with your long lost friend and continue the festivities together.

One might think that such a novelty would be priced pretty high because the manufacturer knows people are bound to pay almost anything for such a device. However, you’ll be pleased to know that the Beer Page is only $20. Now, if you lose the remote you’re back to square one. Would it be too tacky as a necklace….?

arkeg

No doubt one of the best ways to escape your current trials and tribulations in your day to day lives is to sit back and play a good video game. Another approach to the same mind relaxing goal can be had by means of alcohol. What if you put the two together? Obviously many a night have been spent with games and alcohol in the company of good friends. Such events make life worth living and all the more enjoyable. Anyone can have some consoles and a big screen with a fridge full of beer. But if you want to really impress your friends, you need to invest in the Arkeg. All great things take time and money. The Arkeg at $4,000 is no different. But what you get is well worth it — an old style arcade game with a kegerator stuffed inside the cabinet.

The Arkeg comes with a 5 gallon keg, (depending on your drinking habits, mileage may vary) and a PC pre-loaded with 104 classic games. I can already see it now. This thing would be great in my bar/garage. Why would I have to ever go into the house again? Weekly tournaments on the 24″ screen accompanied by 2.1 surround sound with a powered sub will without a doubt make your house the house to be at for parties. I’ll take two please!
