You can now get your ATI/AMD graphics cards updates through Steam!

Good news for Steam users powered by ATI/AMD graphics cards: You can now get your Catalyst driver updates through Steam itself. That’s right. No more having to navigate to AMD’s website to download stuff. Of course, doing so in the first place isn’t exactly rocket science nor is it difficult. Still, having drivers downloads consolidated to a portal that you already visit several times per week is pretty handy you have to admit. Anyone given it a shot...

AMD Announces FirePro v9800 business class graphics cards.

AMD Announces FirePro v9800 business class graphics cards.

If rendering the world in the fastest time possible is the sole goal of your existence, AMD has something they would like to show you — the FirePro 9800. An obvious step up from the old king, the 8800, the 9800 is a counter to the latest business class offerings from Nvidia, namely the Quadro 5000 and 6000 cards. Most notably, Nvidia’s latest cards are faster than AMD’s good ‘ol 8800. As such, they couldn’t let the competitor trample all over...

AMD 6300 and 6870 images leaked!

AMD’s 5xxx series of graphics cards made their debut in the 2nd half of 2009. Since then, they’ve completely padded their GPU lineup from top to bottom. And when they did, they were overpriced for the rather slight difference in performance as well as putting off copious amounts of heat. Prices have dropped, however, making Nvidia’s DirectX11 cards worth another...

Red vs. Green is no more: AMD kills ATI brand. New hardware to carry AMD name.

Well this is certainly a surprising thing to wake up to on a Monday morning… The iconic, old as dirt battle between the Red Camp (ATI) and Green Camp (Nvidia) is no more. The move is sure to ruffle a few feathers. I myself am a bit peeved being an ATI-fan myself. Though in the grander scheme of things, I can see AMD’s point of view — with the upcoming Fusion chips being a hybrid of CPU and GPU, a unified brand is overall better for the public...

ATI 6870 benchmark leaked? 3D Vantage Score: X11963

ATI 6870 benchmark leaked? 3D Vantage Score: X11963

Well isn’t this a nice little surprise for a Friday morning — ATI’s upcoming hardware gets the names and benchmark leak. On the naming front, “Cayman, Blackcomb, Barts, Whistler, Onega, Turks, Seymour and Caicos” look to be the tag names for the upcoming Northern Southern Islands hardware. Remember, Southern Islands is going to be a more mild refresh than originally planned because of ATI’s manufacturers skipping ahead to a smaller chip...
