Droid Pro and Global Yanked From Best Buy Mobile Because They’re Too Cheap? #vzw #android

Drama is going down in the tech world today between Best Buy Mobile and Verizon Wireless. Currently, Best Buy Mobile has put a “stop sale” on the Droid Pro and Droid Global. The reasoning given on the internal documents is being blamed on “recall issues”. However, thus far there hasn’t been any big hardware or software problems with either phone that we’re aware of. With that said, the word that’s spreading around the web today focuses not on the hardware itself, but on pricing. Apparently, Verizon Wireless is feeling the pressure of Best Buy Mobile’s uber cheap prices on the two missing handsets, and as such, has stopped giving Best Buy Mobile the devices/rights to resell them. Naturally, Verizon wants more people to come into their stores so they can make money on extra service plans and accessories — things with Best Buy doesn’t seem to push as hard.

I fired of emails to both parties earlier, though Verizon is the only one to respond.

We really can’t speak for Best Buy; best to touch base with them. Verizon continues to sell these great devices and they are perfect for holiday gift giving

Absolutely no mention of a recall. Of course, PR outfits aren’t always on the up and up when it comes to the latest breaking news in the tech world. With that said, Verizon isn’t about to admit they’re frustrated with Best Buy Mobile making more money and cutting the carrier out of the revenue stream. Instead, they’ll act as if nothing is wrong. What will be more interesting however, is what exactly Best Buy Mobile has to say. Stay tuned…

Another reason to never venture into a Sprint store: Best Buy Mobile giving you HTC Hero for $180 flat

sprint-htc-heroIf you’re even remotely interested in Android, chances are the HTC Hero coming to Sprint has you all in a dizzy. Hardware that received a gorgeous face lift for Sprint, an already awesome mobile OS that is only going to get better and internals that are up to the job, the HTC Hero is the hottest Android device that isn’t too far from release. While going through a pesky $100 MIR will get you down to that nice attractive $180 price point, going to any Sprint store will require you to lay down a tick under $300 for the privilege. However, the boys in blue over at Best Buy Mobile will do the dirty work for you enabling you to walk out the door $100 richer and carrying an HTC Hero without armed security chasing after you! See, not much reason to go to Sprint. But hey, if you have some sort of nostalgia or weird fixation with Sprint stores, by all means…

Since the original iPhone debuted a little more than two years ago, mobile internet usage has sky rocketed. Naturally, resellers want to get in on this lucrative market and make put a few bennies away in the bank. You may have noticed in recent outings to the well known electronics giant, Best Buy, that their mobile phone section got a relatively large boost in size. It is all part of their grand plan to open 40 new, standalone mobile phone stores in hopes of capturing a bigger chunk of all U.S. mobile phone sales, 15% to be exact. In case your inner cat had a case of curiousness, Best Buy currently accounts for roughly 3% meaning they’ve got to have improvements upwards of 500% — no small task to say the least. Though the goal is lofty, no date has been set as to a “goal date” in which to reach that goal. Slow and steady always beats fast and rushed everytime. Now if only Best Buy would drop the ridiculous and infuriating habit of using nothing but dummy phones…
