Blackberry Storm users who were desperately waiting for the latest 4.7.0.141 update to drop on Verizon bringing some much needed TLC to RIM’s often talked about Blackberry Storm, your wait has just been extended. According to a BG ninja, the latest firmware update failed Verizon Wireless’ testing because of the ever persistent glitches that have become a nagging problem that just won’t go away on RIM’s first foray into the touchscreen world. So what does RIM have to say for themselves? Nothing for now. Hopefully they’ll polish up the Storm OS for everyone’s sake. It really is a shame it didn’t “take the world by Storm” as the cheesy catch phrase stated leading up to launch. Oh well…here’s looking to the Storm 2.

While Samsung has of late been traveling down a rather nice road in regards to handset design and functionality with their new hardware buddy AT&T, all things are not rosey. Fresh off the early fail that was the Samsung Epix, AT&T and Samsung have, as it is starting to seem, unfortunately they have teamed up again to create another bug ridden, crash prone handset that is sure to leave a sour taste in many Samsung users’ mouths. The latest debalacle to plauge Samsung/AT&T comes by way of the Samsung Impression. Apparently, a small problem occurs when the user enables T9 mode, types the letter “I”, and then follows with a space. The small error in question is actually a system wide stroke that instantly brings the death chime to the phone. Of course it is all find and dandy once restarting. While all electronics and gadgets will have bugs, this insto-stroke is more than just a “minor bug”. It seems as if Samsung and AT&T are getting a tad lazy in the quality control department. Not to mention, if they have a secret manufacture code for whatever you could think of, I don’t think making it T9 + “I” + space was a good idea. How many millions of sentences in the English language start with that combination? Hopefully the slacking duo come up with a fix and fast. In the meantime, if you’re so inclined, you can check out a thread on Howard Forums, or another on AT&T which has many disgruntled users voicing their opinions as well as the possibility for an early fix as the “community” often fixes these things first anyway.

A rather disturbing find (if your running a Symbian OS that is) is a bug in the Symbian OS that will cause your phone to stop receiving SMS messages. What causes it you ask? According to an article posted on Mobile Whack on the subject says the bug “activates” when a message is composed consisting of more than 32 characters as well as including some as of now unknown identifier. After said message is composed, it labels the message as “Internet Electronic Mail” and deactivates SMS on your phone. To make matters worse, it doesn’t even tell you with a dialog pop, icon change, or anything. The real icing on the cake is their isn’t any fix for it yet. Yikes! Nokia has been notified and is hopefully working feverishly on this issue. Many phones are said to be affected. Is your phone on the list? Click through to see the full list.
