Review: Opena Bottle Opener iPhone 4S Case

  • December 29, 2011 9:05 pm

Today I get to talk about something that combined two of my favorite things in life: my iPhone 4S and beer. Yes my friends, beer. Opena is the World’s first iPhone 4/4S case that has a built in slide out bottle opener. What once was only a glimmer in the eyes of two Aussies; Rob Ward and Chris Peters, and what started out as a Kickstarter project is now protecting iPhones and getting those people drunk at the same time.

We put the Opena case to some vigorous tests this past week and painfully had to down numerous (and I mean numerous) beers in the process. Will the Opena do a spot on job at protecting your iPhone 4? Will it also easily open that tasty IPA of yours without having to carry another bottle opener? We answered these questions and got kinda tipsy in the process after the break.

Scoshe Unveils SwitchBACK Surge G4 iPhone 4 Battery Case.

  • April 22, 2011 11:04 am

Scoshe Industries has a contender for battery packed iPhone 4 cases: the switchBACK surge g4. Inside this seemingly standard plastic case lies an 1,800mAh battery that will recharge a completely dead iPhone 4 up to 80% capacity as well as providing up to 275 hours of standby, 12 hours of talk time, 36 hours of audio, 9 hours of Wi-Fi, and 9 hours of video playback.

The g4 comes with an integrated kickstand, two polycarbonate backs (Gloss Black & Metallic Silver) and fits both AT&T and Verizon iPhone models. A standalone “reVIVE” app (iTunes Link) adds to the g4′s utility by showing a number of runtimes based off of current case and iPhone charge.

Review: Wireless Ground iPhone 4 Shell + Holster Combo

  • April 18, 2011 6:36 am

Besides a slew of developer support, there’s one big thing the iPhone has going for it — cases. There’s literally too many to count (or even keep track of for that matter). While we’ve all likely heard of the bigger names in iPhone accessories including but certainly not limited to Speck, Incipio, SwitchEasy, Griffin, Incase, and iFrogz, there’s a slew of more obscure companies all lunging for your attention and hard earned dollar. More times than not, the products be these lower-priced competitors are decent, though ultimately come away looking and feeling cheap. Every once in a while, however, we’re surprised.

Will the iPhone 4 Case + Holster combo from Wireless Ground impress us in quality and price? Hop inside to find out.

XPAL Power Announces PowerSkin Line Of Battery Cases.

  • March 22, 2011 10:28 am

XPAL Power is riding the smartphone wave today in announcing the PowerSkin line of battery infused cases. The 1500mAh cases (iPhone 4 features 2000mAh battery) cover some of the most popular smartphones on the market — HTC Evo | HTC HD7 | HTC myTouch 4G | Motorola Droid X | Samsung Galaxy S 4G, Vibrant, i9000 and i9003 | iPhone 4 (AT&T and Verizon). The design looks sleek and unobtrusive and is aided by the soft touch silicone that wraps around the cases. Features include the ability to charge the case (and phone) while the phone is inserted as well as syncing to your computer. A set of indicator LEDs along the back side of the case (bottom of iPhone 4 case) gives users a visual representation of remaining battery life.

Availability is still listed s “coming soon” with price equally as mysterious. Such things should be cleared up in the coming days, however, so check back soon.
In the meantime, check out PowerSkin’s website for more info and images.

Reported iPhone 5 Case Images Leak Out.

  • March 16, 2011 5:48 pm

French Mac website, MacBidouille, claims to have images of cases for the upcoming iPhone 5. Obviously, no official images or information about said phone has come to light yet (and probably won’t until sometime this summer). Though in years past, we’ve been able to rely on Chinese iPhone case manufacturers for a 2-3 month preview of what the next-gen iPhone hardware is going to look like. And if the cases above are legit, we’re looking at another “3GS” type of revamp — extremely minor changes to physical appearance, with most of the moving being done under the hood. Then again, going from a single-core to a dual-core processor, more RAM, a potentially larger screen, and iOS 5 in tow sounds mighty tempting to us nonetheless, no?

Review: i.Fuzen Case, External Battery Pack, And Headphone Amp For iPhone 4.

  • March 15, 2011 6:15 am

Being an audiophile in the modern digital world while also considering mobility is almost impossible. At uncompressed bitrates, single CDs can easily approach 600-900MB in size. With the standard MP3 player only containing ~16-32GB of storage, such a lifestyle doesn’t exactly bode well for diversity. But times are a changin’. Audiophile equipment is getting smaller and becoming more efficient. And slowly but surely, device storage is growing. But what if you want the ultimate in portability while not sacrificing too much sound quality or battery life? Products such as the i.Fuzen made by Auzentech are right up your alley. Featuring a 3-in-1 design, this little case/extended battery/headphone amp is pretty awesome. Jump inside for the full rundown…

Ballistic Cases Announces New Cases For Verizon iPhone 4.

  • February 7, 2011 10:48 am

One of the few gripes many people have had with the Verizon iPhone is that its button layout is ever so slightly different, meaning cases designed for GSM iPhones won’t fit (unless the case makes use of larger cut-outs). That means countless case manufacturers are having to go back and make small tweaks in order to cater to the onslaught of new VZW iPhone owners. One such case manufacturer who has some great cases is Ballistic Cases.

We reviewed their excellent Ballistic Hard Core case several months back and came away quite impressed with its versatility and sheer strength. Now, that same strength and protection comes to VZW iPhone owners. Those of you who are turned off by large and bulky cases however, need not worry. Ballistic has several thinner but equally strong cases to suit your needs too.

Stop on by Ballistic’s Verizon-specific iPhone 4 page and check out their new stuff.

Forget the White iPhone. This See-thru Case Is Cooler.

  • January 20, 2011 1:04 pm

The white iPhone may still be the unicorn phone of Apple’s lineup, but somehow this see-thru design on sale at mobile.uwants.com is much more lust worthy. Granted, Apple didn’t design the iPhone to look pretty without its clothes on, nor did they take into account light bleeding through to the back of the device sans stock case. But I can look past those small hiccups if the price is right. Gallery of naked iPhones after the jump…

MoGo Talk XD2 iPhone Case Now Available For Verizon iPhone.

  • January 18, 2011 6:41 am

The MoGo Talk XD2 iPhone 4 case that we reviewed back in December is coming in a newer, Verizon iPhone 4 friendly form. But don’t let the “2″ number fool you. It’s nothing more than a simple, subtle re-design to accommodate the Verizon iPhone’s slightly tweaked design (read: you won’t notice it). As a case, the MoGo was decent, and what we’d call above average. As a bluetooth headset, it was as good as any. And as a combo package it was great — the storing of the headset flush within the case was ingenious.

Regardless of the minor changes, Verizon iPhone users who spend half their day on the phone and live and die by a bluetooth ear piece will definitely want to check out this case. Release is scheduled for February 3rd at authorized retailers as well as Mogo’s website for $99.99.
