I have seen countless cases released for the iPad and will be the first to admit they are all pretty douchy. This by far takes the cake though, hands down the most amazing coin purse ever released. Apple would go as far as to say ‘magical!’

You have two options, well, two if you have a Kindle as well as the iPad… A smaller grey and blue case to hold that Kindle E-Reader, and a larger black/red and grey case for that sweet iPad. Either way, you’ll be walking around in old school style. Bust em out at a party, bring them on your first date, ditch your wife on the beach while you chill in your cruise suite looking awesome! It doesn’t matter. All the ladies will be swooning at your awesome 80′s fashion. Or if you are like Hugh Hefner, she’ll have no idea what it is, as she wasn’t alive yet…

The ultimate form of tech nerdy know how is taking one or more washed up, used gadgets and turning them into something new and useful. In this case, it’s an old cassette tape being turned into a tie, specifically using the actual magnetic tape material inside the cassette.

The actual composition of these “cassette ties” is actually 50% tape 50% thread. But those outside the world of tech, no one’s the wiser.

The coolest part isn’t what it’s made out of but what it can still do — play music. If you happen to have a spare magnetic head lying around, running it over one of these nifty ties here will produce audible tones of the original tape recordings. How many ties have you seen that are that “hi-tech”?

$90-$140 and it’s yours.

[Product Page]

From the creator:

The sonic fabric neckties are a limited-edition project made in collaboration with my designer friend Julio Cesar. sonic fabric is woven from 50% recorded audio cassette tape and 50% collared thread the fabric is actually audible if you run a tape head over it! (if you’d like a demo, please visit my YouTube channel at alyceobvious. The idea behind the tie is that the wearer becomes a beacon for other-dimensional, intangible, subtle forces of good…much in the manner of a superhero. only this part of the superhero garb can be worn on the outside in the most conservative environment without detection! looks equally great with dress shirt or t-shirt. this tie is the skinny version – 1.75? wide at the widest point. I also make medium and slightly wider versions.

Humans it seems, have a need to collect stuff. Whether it be gadgets or some other less entertaining thing, transporting all of this junk is a chore. Why look dumb and out of style when you can be cool and retro? If you have a love for all things analog and have a nice pile of junk that needs toting, the Cassette Tape Tote Bag is here to lend a helping <del>hand</del> pouch. Go ahead and splurge a little. The Cassette Tape Tote Bag will be the center of conversation when it makes the more mature remember their younger years when mp3 players and netbooks were but a science fiction novelty. $11.99 is the price of admission.

If you grew up in the pre-CD era, chances are you have at least a couple of old cassettes laying around your humble abode collecting dust. Back in the day they were the leading in technology – such a small format held so much…again back in the day. The world has since progressed from these meager times to a much more versatile digital format. While physical mediums, even the digital CD, are starting to travel down the path of dying tech, digital is merely progressing to a more “true” form. A form in which it is virtually unbound by physical means. What better way to take you old confined analog tunes and open them up, giving them a bit more freedom. A Japanese company, Novac, has released a “Cassette to Digital” device that will do just that.

The MV-CM001U is a cassette to digital device that will help you get that final piece of your music collection into the modern realm where it can be stored forever in perfect quality. The MV-CM001U will convert cassettes into MP3/WMA/WAV files in sizes ranging from an abysmal 32kbps all the way up to 320kbps (oddly excluding 192kbps). The unit also features a built in USB port making the transfer of all of your newly begotten digital files a snap. There is one caveat however, the software, Cassette Mate, is a Windows only software that will only work on XP and Vista. Bummer. Can’t have your cake and eat it to I guess. If you just want to listen to your tunes because you don’t already have a million different types of players, the 1.5W integrated speaker should suit your personal listening needs. If you do in deed have a plethora of old analog cassettes just laying around, you may went to give the Cassette to Digital a worthy consideration. You can start picking yours up on April 24th for the low low price of $80.
