‘Tis a sad day for Microsoft, for one of their staple employees is moving on. Ray Ozzie, Cheif Software Architect at Microsoft is stepping down. The reason for the relinquishing of his position isn’t yet known. To announce the change, CEO Steve Ballmer sent out an email to Microsoft employees both praising Ozzie and wishing him well in his future ventures.
For now, we’re left to speculate as to whether Ozzie is ready to settle down and enjoy his later years unemployed, or if he has other visions (and employers) in his sights.
From previous comments he’s made concerning Android and Chrome/OS, a future with Google doesn’t seem too out of the ordinary. Not to mention, with his specialty being cloud-based computing, a company looking to expand or further solidify their position in said space couldn’t afford not to have him.
What’s the verdict: Retired or on the market?

The geeks of this world who love change, design, and eye candy and also happen to be users of Gmail will be pleasantly pleased to know that a few new themes have popped up in the themes section: Orcas Island, Turf, and High Score. Obviously, the blatant Nintendo look-alike isn’t called “Nintendo” because of various copyright lawsuits that would result almost immediately. If you’re a retro gamer or dig the look, have at it. Though be warned, the retro look does make reading anything pretty difficult at times. It’s not exactly a theme that you’re going to want to use if you’re worried about readability. Moving on, Orcas Island is your typical ocean front theme while Turf is a grass lovers dream. Lots of green green green. The latter two don’t have the pizazz or uniqueness of High Score And yes…it’s a slow morning. Why else would I crawl the settings tabs of web services…..

If you haven’t heard cloud computing is the latest craze sweeping the nation. Everyone and their mother seems to be fascinated with moving everyday tasks such as office work (word, excel, etc) as well as file storage among other things online, freeing up space on your machine and ensuring you have a safe and secure backup that you can access any place you have an internet connection. However a truly interesting concept that would truly break OS boundaries is an operating system that you could run inside of a web browser giving you true unwalled freedom? *If only* Well if that is something that has been the cause of many sleepless nights and countless drool soaked pillow cases iCloud will be your saving grace. iCloud does what seems impossible – brings an entire OS to your web browser.
