  • November 15, 2010 10:34 am

You could be like every other normal, un-interesting home owner and put some bland plank of wood in your living room, boring your guests and coffee cups alike. Or, you could make use of this awesome Han Solo Coffee Table designed and built by England-based design studio R9…

Gigantor NES Table with fully functioning jumbo controller!

  • September 8, 2010 11:37 am

We’ve seen plenty of geek-ified home decor here at Gadgetsteria over the last couple of years. But nothing is perhaps as nerdy or cool as the larger-than-life NES Coffee Table. Built by a dude who goes by “Matt”, the NES Coffee Table features some clever hidden storage bins, power outlets hidden in the controller ports, and even a controller with actual working buttons.

For a piece of furniture, it’s pretty spectacular. I’m not going to lie; I want it. But don’t trail away after a simple glance. Hop inside for more pictures and a detailed video further highlighting the magic that’s happening with this little gem…

Arcane Arcade Table: The Coffee Table for retro gaming geeks!

  • September 8, 2010 6:53 am

If you’re the type that relishes in the past and misses the good ‘ol days of throwing $20 worth of quarters into an old arcade time and time again, this is the “coffee table” for you. Though don’t go sitting food and drinks on top of it’s toughed glass top anytime soon. For if you do, someone won’t be able to see the screen.

Packed with over 100 fully licensed games from Taito, Midway and Atari, as well as optional mini-PC, the Arcane Arcade Table by Surface Tension is designed to be the center piece and entertainment focal point of your living room. Between the deep catalog of classic games, built-in PC (optional), and Sonos Radio capabilities, how could you not want a table like this? Oh yeah, it has a slide out drawer hiding a bevy of buttons, joysticks, and rollerballs. Score!

And now, the part we never like to talk about — price. Plan on dropping a cool $5061 USD (appx. £3299) if you get the table + PC version. If you’ve got your own PC, however, forgo the optional add-on and save yourself over $1,000. What will it be — straight gaming or gaming + media center PC + drink holder? Be sure to stop inside and check out the gallery of visual goodness…

The coolest coffee table to ever gaze upon: The Circuit Board Table.

  • July 22, 2010 7:26 am

If I had a coffee table in my house, it would be this. All those dreams of dumpster diving finally have a purpose. Of course, finding the necessary spare computer parts in a more or less “quality state” from within a dumpster would be pretty hard if they weren’t safely protected in an old case. Still, the quest goes on. Besides looking beyond awesome, your coffee will be happy too. Win win, right? Couple more shots after the jump…

The coolest temperature/capacity monitoring coffee cup yet.

Real nerds like to show off their nerdy ways in as many ways as possible. Just having 17 computers, 6 cellphones, and 8 TV’s isn’t enough. No, you need to completely surround yourself with products focused on geekery. That’s specifically why you need one of the coffee cups pictured above…

70-200mm Coffee Mug part of Olympic Shwag, begs you to fill it full of liquid goodness..

  • March 4, 2010 4:26 pm

Ever find yourself looking at the $500 lens on your $5800 camera, wishing you could poor liquid goodness deep down inside and carry it around as a “custom” mug, showing off the true nerd lifestyle you long to live? Ya, not so much, do ya? But what if someone went through the trouble of making a mug that looked like some expensive photography equipment? Might be a little more welcoming huh? Apparently photographers shooting it up at the Olympics in Vancouver were given some pretty sweet shwag — 70-200mm camera lens coffee mugs.

Similar trinkets have appeared here and there over the years, but no major company or manufacturer has ever really gotten behind such projects and actually marketed them. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure there would be a decent following willing to pick up a few lens mugs. What better way to simultaneously freak out a buddy/co-worker and look like the real geek you are? Canon/Nikon/Konica/everyone else…are you listening?

112 LED coffee table. You know you want it. I mean, really want it.

  • March 1, 2010 11:54 am

I wouldn’t exactly call myself a big home design type of person, but some geeks are. They care about those little touches that make their house more homey. For them, geeky furniture is a way of life. Rightfully so, new and unique geeky furniture is always nice to stumble upon. Do you find yourself pondering how to spruce up your living room a bit more, with your coffee table looking a bit dated? Nothing a few LED’s and some ATmega328′s couldn’t fix, right?

Right! “Joe” — the name behind this LED fame — constructed the LED table you see above with 112 LED’s and a pair of ATmega328′s in a master/slave configuration. The result is nothing short of awesome. Being the visually stimulated human beings that we are, a more “moving” representation is needed. Partake of the video below…

The coffee table reborn into an aquarium.

  • February 26, 2010 5:42 am

Building on your geeky streak of nerdy decor with the Floppy Disc Pillows and the Keyboard Rubik’s Cube, it’s time to go one step further. OK, several steps further with the Coffee Table Aquarium. As the name implies, this coffee table houses aquatic life in it’s completely transparent base, offering up a pretty sweet look at the little creatures swimming around in their little home. A word from manufacturer Hammacher Schlemmer perhaps?

The tank rests on a heavy-duty black acrylic base; lights in the base illuminate the tank from beneath the bed of blue glass gravel. Comes with two-stage submersible filter pump and decorative plants. Plugs into AC with a 6? cord; access panel in base allows you to reach electric parts. For freshwater fish; gap under top allows for feeding. The 25 Gallon Aquarium Coffee Table. 25-gallon aquarium with 36? sq. tabletop. Top 36? sq.; tank 15 1/2? H x 24? L x 24? W. (100 lbs.)

So it looks cool. It’ll keep your fish cool. And did we mention you can actually drop your junk on top of this fish tank? Ya, that got a lot of people right there. Save those pennies, it’s not cheap — $599 and up.

Don the mustache you’ve always wanted….

Novelty gifts are all too often cheap gimmicky things that result because of procrastination on the givers part, or simply because their want to give something unique isn’t exactly translated in the best of form. Although, there are a rare few novelty gifts that are actually pretty cool. Gifts such as the “Moustache Mugs” prove that point perfectly. Looking at the image above, one can quickly gather why a mundane and overlooked task such as re-liquifying your body can become a highly sought after part of the day. Good for a quick cup of joe. Good for a quick laugh. The Moustache Mugs look like a good deal to me. $20/mug means you will have to save a tad to get the full collection. Which, if you’re a geek such as I, stashing away a few dollars shouldn’t be a problem. Another pic awaits your attention inside…
