Boiling water meets -45°F air. Insta-ice ensues…

  • September 24, 2010 7:08 am

I’m a warm weather loving person. And when I say warm, I meant hot. 90+ is my comfort zone. Old people…not so much. But I’m still young and youthful. Yippie for me. With that said, I hate loathe the cold. And yet I love snow. Go figure. I’m somewhat retarded. Anyway, if I lived in a place where it was -45°F…well…ok, I’d never live there. But if I did, I’d totally take some boiling water and chuck it out the window, watching it turn into insta-ice on the way to the ground. Some fun geeky science would keep me occupied for a few minutes anyway. A picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes a video is just so much more expressive. You know where to go … –>

The end is near: Frosty the Fire Breathing Snowman to mame and melt everything in sight.

  • February 10, 2010 10:32 pm

If there were any doubt in your mind that global warming global cooling climate change wasn’t an immediate threat to humanity, I have one thing that should instantly re-instill fear into the depths of your soul — Frost the Fire Breathing Snowman.

Gone forever are the childhood memories of dear sweet frosty, the glistening of freshly fallen snow, and the smell of Auntie’s hot-out-of-the-oven chocolate cookies. Instead, all of it will be replaced with the destruction and utter chaos that Frosty the Firey Snowman will levy on the human race. Godspeed everyone.

**PS: I want one.

Coming to a galaxy near you: The Snow Droid

  • January 12, 2010 8:45 am

No, this isn’t some new scheme from Verizon to milk you for more dollars with a new snow white Moto DROID color option. The Snow Droid is a tad more cheery. Quite simply, it’s a replica R2-D2 snowman droid. In the colder regions of the planet (read: most of the US…that means you Floridians too), snow has been falling in a bizarre showcase of unusual cold sweeping the US.

So if you find yourself in one of these unusually cold climates or are a cold weather native, make this year the year you break out of the norm. Make a Snow Droid. Wow your friends, your parents, and strangers with your artistic display or sub-arctic crystalline construction.

Celebrate this Christmas with a bang: The Hand Grenade Ornament.

  • October 15, 2009 6:40 am

Fond memories of Grandma’s cookies, the sweet smell of gingerbread cookies, and the overall mood that falls over the Christmas season brings many adults back to a simpler, younger time in their lives. Some may want to keep the memories as they are, only reliving them with their new families as they grow older. Though some will be tired of the same and instead seek out change. Perhaps you’re the type that remembers all of the jollies of the cold winter months when a whiff of ever so sweet gun powder floats by a nostril. Perhaps not. Still, those seeking something new can now celebrate Christmas with a bang — figuratively…almost literally. The Hand Grenade Ornament looks shiny, sleek, and impressive hanging from your precious tree, real or fake. Of course, no actual boom boom is possible — something a weekend project could fix I’m sure. Old tails of crazy squirrels running rampant in your tree to mental family members creating havoc will be replaced with “How dad blew up the tree/house”. *reminiscing about fond Christmas memories of years past….*

So how about it? £20 ($32 USD) nets you a set of six. Go crazy.

**A portion of each sale will go to Ctrl.Alt.Shift’s fight against global injustice.

Keep your noggin warm and your ear drums thumpin’ with the iHat

  • September 1, 2009 1:06 pm

ihat

Winter time can pose certain complications for gadget wearing foe. For example, while many walkers wear ear buds as their audio ear input of choice, easily slipping under most headwear, some prefer larger, more bulky styles. Obviously, these larger styles don’t always fit under headwear or simply look incredibly dorky. Thankfully a solution has entered into the arena by way of the iHat. Now I know the iHat is not the first contestant to vie for your hard earned cash in this niche, however, it is one of the more normal looking and functional options. As you can assume, the claim to fame for the iHat is that it keeps the stock beanie/winter hat form factor while implementing some audio beaters in strategically located places. In comparison to other styles of audio accessories like these that instead leave your head exposed, the iHat will keep you head nice and toasty while allowing you to keep the music blaring away in your head. As far as compatibility goes, a standard 3.5mm jack ensures that pretty that pretty much any device with an audio out/headphone jack will work with the iHat.

Perhaps the best part is the price — $25. Not too shabby in the least as many hats this style, especially designer hats can easily approach and surpass $25 while the iHat does everything those hats do plus going the extra mile and providing audio. Of course, for $25 and wrapped in a hat, don’t expect to be sonically blown away by quality. Still, $25, a warm head, and happy ears are might tempting. Are you hovering over the buy button yet?
