The future smartphone/MID: The T-Glove

While talking about there here and now in the gadget world is certainly worthwhile and exciting, looking ahead into the future of geekdom is in my opinion just as exciting and at times more exciting. Letting our minds wonder with what could be allows for some truly amazing concepts — wonderful concepts such as the T-Glove. This do-it-all wonder gadget is a astronaut-like wrist device that combines a phone, MID, GPS, and more all within easy reach of five of your most precious digits. With the embedded RFID chip even more crazy and untold functions can unfold making this seemingly niche gadget all the more useful. Truth is, if this were released tomorrow for a stomach turning price, I’d let my stomach do all the flips it wanted, sell my soul, and possibly even prized paperclip collection….*shifts eyes*. What would you do for one?

OS Calculator concepts entice my inner geek

Throughout school and even now, math is probably my least favorite subject. In fact, I would even go as far to say that I avoid it. Why do I hate numbers so? No sure. It’s just a feeling I’ve always had. Kind of strange really. Many in the tech/digital field usually have a fairly good grasp of math and all that it offers. Why I got left out is anybodies guess. Maybe if I had the OS X calculator I would have done better. Meh, there’s no hope for me. But these concept OS calculators by Mintpass sure are cool. Because of the obvious reasons (massive lawsuits), neither Microsoft and especially Apple would ever let Joe Shmoe profit off their design. So, we’ll have to wait around until WW5 before we can ever begin of dreaming of these becoming a reality. *sigh*

Android concept makes current products seem downright archaic

Futuristic design with sleek contours and big touchable screens leave us simply awe-struck. The latest design from Twaiwan based Tryi Yeh is quite possibly the sleekest and coolest mobile device I’ve gazed upon yet. The all glass front while probably delicate is nothing short of gorgeous. The OLED buttons on the slide out panel is super cool and handy to boot. The only sad part about this phone is that it is still years off. We simply don’t have the technologies to make the battery last as long as the digital bits inside likely require. Taking a short trip into the future is always fun though isn’t it? A couple more pictures await your curious mind right inside.

Keep a fish, save the planet – Floating Garden Freshwater Aquarium [Concept]

Why oh why can’t these concepts be more real right now and not ten years into the future.  Granted, this concept has a bit more of a chance than some of the crazier things we’ve covered here.  The concept in question is the Floating Garden Freshwater Aquarium.  What is really unique and sets this aquarium apart from all other aquariums is the fact that it doesn’t use any type of artificial filtration system meaning less plastics and other chemical compounds get released into the ground when lil flipper croaks and his aquarium becomes nice monument in some landfill.  Morbid, maybe.  Honest, you bet.  Designed by Benjamin Graindorge and Duende Studio, the process that these masterminds have come up with that allows this aquarim to filter out nitrates without a filter uses a floating mass of vegetation, river sand, and bacteria to get the dirty deeds done.  Once filtered, the so clean and so fresh water is passed back to mini flipper so that he can contine swimming in endless circles inside of his wee little tank.  According to Cool Hunting, plans are in place to put this green work of art and science into production come 2010.   Think of the fishes, think of the planet.

The Motherboard Mirror reveals how geeky your really are

If there was ever a time when you realized you were truly a geek, a nerd, or all out hysterical nut, upon purchasing this item, your entrance into that realm may have just begun.  The Motherboard Mirror is as the name states, a mirror designed and modeled after a motherboard.  What sets this unique mirror apart from other mirrors with designs and etchings on them, is that the etchings in the motherboard mirror are made on the glass slab itself, not the mirror surface, meaning you can’t actually touch and feel the design on the mirror.  For the true electronic/circuit loving aficionados, the Motherboard Mirror may be just the item to add to your collection that comes in rectangular, square, or circular shapes.  However, good luck finding one as they are an extremely limited item that will surely never make it into your house, destined for lives in museums.
