Take a gander at that. According to SPFX.com, the “Handsome Guy” mask being modeled above is the “world’s most realistic mask”. After seeing the video, I’d concur with that statement too. Creativity is one thing geeks alike certainly don’t lack. When boredom sets in, our minds can be downright resourceful and clever. Take for example, this 8-bit suit created by Kiel Johnson and Klai Brown out of more than 4,000 foam blocks for a Toshiba commercial. It may seem a little over the top and “extreme” for something as short as a commercial. To each his own. I think its mighty sweet.

Man creates real life 7ft. tall Halo Elite costume

To say that Halo was a good game is ever so slightly understated. Halo was (and still is) very much a huge deal in the gaming world. The combination of gameplay, story line, and graphics have that uncanny ability to suck you in and hold mercilessly. For some, it’s a cult. While others find inspiration.

Meet special effects artist Pete Mander and his 7ft. tall Halo Elite costume. It’s incredibly detailed and well designed as you can see. And yes, it’s rather large too. I wasn’t a “die-hard Halo fan per say, but I certainly was what you’d call, “addicted” for quite some time. Either way, I could easily spend hours gazing at this creation, couldn’t you? Are you a double amputee with a good sense of humor? If so, someone on Craigslist would like to have a word with you…

Physical deformations are never something to joke about. That is unless the person featuring the unfortunate deformation has fun with it themselves. If you’ve ever gone to an actual Halloween costume party, you know, one where the attendees actually get into and go over the top, you may have seen a full fledged Chewbacca costume with or without the standard C3PO parts strapped to his back. For one man in Austin, Texas, “spare parts” and the illusion of reality aren’t good enough. No sir. He wants the real damn thing.

Perhaps that’s the motivation for this guy’s Craigslist posting asking for any double amputee if they’d like to be the C3PO on his hairy back. Funny? You bet. Poor taste? Only if you don’t have any sense of humor. It takes the ride kind of person to actually fit the bill and be ok with it enough to showcase it as well. The Craigslist ad:

A double amputee (someone missing both legs – preferably at the hip) to accompany me as C3PO for the evening. We should meet ahead of time so that we can work out the backpack/harness system. There are a few parties that I want to hit and I think we will be the hit of any event we attend.

I hope someone comes forward as they will be without a doubt be the “best dressed” of any party the attend. Not to mention, passerbys on the street will have quite the chuckle as well. Godspeed Mr. Austin Texas.
